4.4 Are you sure?

I'm at work and talking to Taira.

"Sorry... I don't know why I'm telling you all this." Taira scratches his head shyly.

"I-it's okay..." I can feel my heartbeat speeding up.

(What am I going to do? My heart is racing.)

"Next time I'm in, do you think I could ask you for a recommendation?" He asks friendly. "You seem to like books a lot."

"Y-yeah, sure!"

He smiles brightly. "Good."

(It isn't fair... the way he looks at me with that bright, breezy smile!)

"Well, see you around."

"Yeah, see ya..." I stare at him as he leaves.

Then suddenly...

"I saaaw that!" Ikumi squeals in my ear.

"I-ikumi?!"

She begins laughing. "Chatting up another cute guy?"

"Y-yeah..."

Ikumi leans closer and whispers. "Is that the guy you told me about?"

"Yeah."

"Hmm, your face is red." She teasingly peers into my face. "So something happened, right?"

"N-nothing happened! He was just making small talk..."

Ikumi doesn't stop teasing. "Oh? Like what?"

"He said he just moved to the area, but that he used to live around here."

"Uh huh." She smiles.

"And he used to come to this library a lot as a kid."

"Okay." Her smile gets bigger.

"He'd come and read books with a girl..."

Ikumi laughs a little. "Okay. And?"

"A-and that girl... was his first crush."

"!!" She takes a sharp breath. "So, maybe..."

"No. No way. That's impossible! Coincidences like that just don't happen."

I put the brakes on this conversation myself.

Ikumi tries again. "But this timing... It's got to be him!"

(It was only recently that I started having those dreams... And my image of him isn't unlike that guy... Could it be?)

"Y-you think so?"

"Yes! The signs, they're about him!" She beams at me.

"Maybe you're right!"

(I wonder when he'll be back...)

I'm completely swept away by my fateful reunion.
