I'm alone. Riley's at home, my mom's at work and I'm just.. Left alone. I'm always alone. I'm always angry, upset, depressed. Why can't I just tell them how I feel? Why am I so scared?! I just want to be with them.. When I am, I'm always so happy.. But I can't tell them. They don't like me. Why would they? I'm just me. Nothing special. I sigh deeply as I plop down onto my bed, stairing at the ceiling. Soon, my phone dings with a message. I take my phone, reading the text. It's from Riley. "Hey, Maya! You should come over! I miss you! Hope to see you soon 😘." My eyes widen upon seeing that emoji. Why would?.. I let it go, it's just Riley. That's just how she is. I soon go on my way over to her place. I arrive, pressing the buzzer. "Aye it's Maya, open up losers!" I said, soon Riley opens the door, waisting no time, hugging me tightly. I hug back. "Hey Maya." Topanga said. "Hey Mrs. Matthews." Soon Corey comes in. "Ms. Hart." "Mr. Matthews." Then, close behind, Auggie. "Maya!" He runs up to me, hugging me. I hug back as I ruffle his hair. "Hey'a Auggie!" "Okay, now that you've seen everyone for the millionth time, bay window. Bay window now." Riley spoke up, grabbing my hand, dragging me to her room.
"Maya, something's wrong." Riley tells me, causing my eyes to widen. "What's wrong?" I start to worry slightly. "It's horrible, Maya. Everything recently has been.. Different." My eyes widen with hearing that. "Different? Different how?" I may have asked too quickly but I don't think she thought anything of it. "It just.. Everyone's been acting different recently.. Especially you.." She says quietly. "What? Riley what are you talking about?! I'm fine!" She looks over at me, placing her hand on my leg. "Maya you're not. Something's been bothering you." "No, Riley. Nothing's wrong.. I.. I'm fine." She looks at me with puppydog eyes. "Maya please, you've been acting strange." I look down slightly. "Riley, nothing's wrong.. I just.. It's nothing.. Just.. Don't worry about it." I soon feel her hand under my chin, pulling me to look at her. She looks at me with puppy dog eyes. "Maya, do you not trust me?" I look at her shocked. "What? Riley, I trust you more than anyone! I just-.. I'm.." She looks at me, waiting patiently for me to finish my sentence. But I never do. I can't- "Maya, why can't you tell me?" She asked with puppydog eyes. I look away slightly. I can't. You're too freakin' adorable.. I just don't want to lose the only one I have left.. "I'm afraid, Riley. I'm afraid." She looks at me sympathetically. "What?" She asked, her voice shaky. "I'm afraid of losing you." I said quietly but firm. "Why would y-" before she can finish, I interrupt her. "Jus-.. Don't worry about it. I have you now, that's all that matters." I say as I gently lay my head on her shoulder. She lays her head on mine. "Don't worry," she starts, turning to look at me. She looks into my eyes. "You won't lose me." She says with a warm smile. I smile back slightly. "Thank you."
