Liam refused to go back home to see Danielle for a few days after my party but finally half way during the week he finally agreed to let me take him over to his place to see her. I had tried to call her, I e-mailed her and when I was out I drove past her flat to see if she was there but I hadn’t seen her car. It was almost like she had disappeared. But Liam had a key so of course he could go right in.
He was nervous as we sat out the front of the flat for ten minutes while Liam just sat there and stared at the back of Danielle’s car which was in there this time, so she was home. I know that Liam had tried to make contact with Dan too but he had as much luck as I did and didn’t any kind of answer from her, so he just stopped trying.
It was really hard to watch him suffer. Finally he took off his seatbelt and got out of the car. He turned around as he was about to the shut the door and he looked petrified. “Will you go knock on the door?” He asks quietly.
“No, but if you’d like I’ll come with you,” I tell him.
I wouldn’t be the one confronting Danielle but if he needed support I would be there for him. He nods in response and I hop out of the car and walk around to him. He’s nervous and he’s shaking and when I stand beside him on the path he grabs my hand and squeezes and starts to walk tugging me along with him. I’m nervous for him and I don’t want Danielle to feel like I’m taking side but she did just reject him in front of all my friends.
Liam pulls out his key and looks at me as if he’s asking me for permission. I nod my head and he slides the key in to the lock and turns to the left. The door opens and we step in. There’s a TV on in the living room but Danielle is nowhere to be seen. “Dani?” Liam calls out nervously. I squeeze his hand reassuringly and we head left down the hallway of their small flat towards the bedroom he used to share with his girlfriend.
“Liam?” Danielle pokes her head out of the bedroom. Her eyes darted over Liam and she almost scowled when she saw that Liam was holding on to my hand. She then looked to me and frowned and looked back to our linked hands. “What are you doing here?” She asks as she comes out of the bedroom and meets us in the hallway.
Liam’s face screwed up in to the shape of a pretzel as she asked him what he was doing here, I mean this was his home as well. “I live here too,” He almost spat.
“I know that, you could have told me that you were coming I would have made myself more presentable.” She says slowly as she realises that Liam is probably not as upset as he was five minutes ago. The anger of being humiliated and deserted is starting to kick in. I pull my hand out of Liam’s grasp when I decide that he doesn’t need my support anymore.
Liam is about to explode I can see it, he’s usually so calm and lovely but he’s gritting his teeth and he’s red in the face. I don’t blame him, Danielle s acting like they were never even together. Who asks their boyfriend what they’re going in their own house? “This isn’t about how you’re dressed Danielle!” Liam sneers at her.
“I’ll wait in the car,” I whisper when I know that Liam has the courage to talk to Dani.
