Chapter 8

Chapter 8: home:
It was early morning, about 4:00 when we woke up to get ready to go home. We said goodbye to mom and dad and loaded up in the hummer.
On the way back Jake and I took turns driving, we weren't in too much of a hurry to get back so we drove the speed limit this morning since everyone was so tired from yesterday.
The rogue attack confused me, there were too few for that to be a whole pack of them. Their leader didn't even seem like a leader at all and I think they were after me.
I drove for about an hour and let Jake drive and we kept doing that for the first few hours only stopping at gas stations to get gas, use the bathroom, and grab a snack. I must've dozed off because it was 12:00 when it was my turn to drive so I told Jake I would drive the rest of the way.
I started driving a little over the speed limit but not enough to get pulled over by the cops. I came up to a roadblock and stopped. A cop asked for my I.D. and I gave it to him.
"What's going on?" I asked him. "We're looking for a prisoner that escaped killing some of the guards along the way." I wished him luck finding the guy and he let us pass.
I drove about 40 miles down the road when I noticed a car that has been following behind us for the past hour or more. I slowed down, they slowed down, I sped up, they matched my speed. I kept driving just to see if I was wrong and then pulled over when they kept following me.
"What are you doing?" Jake asked me groggily. "Just keep quiet I'm seeing what these people want they have been on my tail for the past hour and a half."
The pulled over behind me and I got out when they did. They smelled like hunters but not the kind that hunts all supernaturals they smelled like the supernatural bounty hunters.
"Have you seen this man?" They asked holding up a picture. "I can't say I have gentlemen."
"If you see him call us and lock him up. He's a vampire that's been going after children." They gave me their number and left. I got back in the hummer and Jake spoke up.
"Who were they?" I told him they were supernatural bounty hunters looking for a vampire and he relaxed.
It took us about three more hours to get back to the territory and when we got back it was getting dark. I cut the engine and carried Jasmine back to our room while Jake carried Tala to hers.
"Lucas?" Jasmine mumbled. "I'm here, we're home." I laid her on the bed and got in beside her after removing our shoes and I fell into a peaceful sleep.
