Mother stood puzzled, glaring at Connor. Her face was expressionless but I could immediately understand that she was radiating with anger. She wasn't making any movement. All she did was take a deep breath.

"Mum. Listen." Connor said spitefully.
"No. You listen. Today is Carly's important day. She has been through plenty at the age of 18. She can't even attend school for the last few weeks because she wanted to be in charge for her brother, Steve." Mum said proudly.

"Enough!" Connor yelled. He quickly grabbed Mother by her wrist, kicking her out of the house through the back door and locking the door behind him.
"Stay out of it, Mum."

"Where were we? Ah. Yes. Who's going to die right now?" Connor grinned.

"Look Connor. We just want my brother to be safe. Please stop being a jerk and just leave him alone!" I said with an exaggeration.

"Oh. Don't worry. I will take care of him, until tomorrow. After that, it's God's problem." He said with laughter and kept on laughing hysterically for five consecutive minutes.

Whilst he was laughing with tears, it meant that he couldn't concentrate. This gave us the opportunity to escape from our wooden chairs and as soon as he stopped laughing, my wooden chair was already in my arms prepared to be fired straight at his round face.

The wooden chair hit him straight in his face which made me enthusiastic leading it for me to yell:

"HEADSHOT!"

I was extremely proud of myself since I felt brave and accomplished my duty.

As soon as Connor was hit, he fell unconsciously on the floor with his head first. There was still someone we needed to take care of before returning to find Steve and that was, Rebecca. Mother found a way in the house through the big window. As she barged in, she started yelling out of anger and fear from all the panic that was going on in the house.

"This is unacceptable, Carly! Why do you have to put us through all this drama? Can't you stop being involved in all of these?" Mother yelled in utter disgrace.

I wished now that I would've been shot by Rebecca from before just to not hear what Mother had just said. I was paralyzed, it's as if I was the blame for everything that happened. I couldn't have been the purpose of this whole situation.

"Carly. Vanessa. Do you need any help?" Rebecca asked with a fake tone in her voice trying to fake her kindness.

Mother was looking at Rebecca from top to bottom, examining her looks better but all she could see was her kindness. That was the wrong idea she had of her from the first place.

"Oh Rebecca, no need. Vanessa and Carly are strong enough to handle themselves." Mother replied for Carly and Vanessa.

Carly couldn't bare to make eye contact with her mother at this point. Mother stood still in the corner of the room near the front door.

"Look Carly! You have until noon for your birthday lunch to find Steve. If you don't find Steve, don't ever come back to the house. I mean it. Or else you will be moving to a whole new place like Connor did although you will struggle much more." She warned me with a hideous look on her face. I could tell that she was being serious for once. She wouldn't even take one small breath while talking.

She opened the door to leave and before exiting she said, "Steve."             After saying that, she slammed the door behind her and all I could do was just take a long and deep breath.

"Well. Where were we?" said a voice which I mistakenly believed was Connor's.

Vanessa was suddenly trembling whilst she was glaring impatiently at Rebecca.

Rebecca wasn't focusing her eyes on anything apart from Vanessa.

"I have to shoot you so that we can be even, I felt like I was shot when you didn't invite me so you need to pay the price." Rebecca said arrogantly.

I had to do what I was going to do right now. I had no choice. Vanessa definitely didn't want to be shot. That would be freaky, and bloody I may add.

I grabbed Rebecca's gun from her hand and pushed her aside leading her to trip backwards and fall on her back against the staircase.

She was howling continuously in pain and her back was aching terribly.

I felt vaguely guilty because I couldn't really consider that it was my fault. I needed to protect my best friend. I couldn't let her hit her or neither touch her roughly.

"YOU WILL REGRET THAT!" yelled Rebecca full of anger and hatred towards me.

Now, I had plenty of enemies. I am not sure which I would rather do now. Make sure no one harms me or Vanessa or just go after Steve.

I began to search the house for bits of traces. I couldn't find anything until I found a river of blood coming from a door which I suppose led to the main bedroom.

I opened the door, all white bed sheets were covered with fresh blood, the white cotton blanket was stained with blood and even the mirror was covered with blood but there was a pattern in it that we couldn't identify.

There were many skulls drawn through the blood that made me question myself that whoever might have done this was an expert in Art because this was definitely talent. The weirdest talent I've ever seen in my life.

Behind me, Vanessa stood frightened whether she should also search some clues from the other rooms but in what a state she was in, it would be better for her to remain with me.

"Vanessa, I'm so sorry." I said in complete sadness.

"For what?" she asked in confusion.

"I'm sorry for getting you into this with me. I shouldn't have put you through all this struggle. You don't deserve this pain. You nearly could have died before because of me. Rebecca nearly killed you. I'm sorry." I whispered.

"I came here voluntarily. You are my best friend and I need to help and support you through everything. We both made mistakes before but now, I am sure that we can work as a team and come on! Let's find your dearest little brother!" Vanessa said in a very friendly manner.

"Aw Van. Thanks. I appreciate --- " I said until somebody interrupted me in a very rude and unwelcoming way.

"Why hello there, again. It's nice to see that you made it this far, my lovely girlfriends." Jen said with a grin on her face.

Vanessa turned her head swiftly from me to Jen. All she could see was the devil in disguise.
