I got home devastated looking at the results. I felt like my heart was torn up into pieces. I felt that I could never live properly again. I took a photo frame of all Father's pictures to see him again. I felt a large misery surrounding me. I was thinking continuously who would kill my lovely father. He wouldn't hurt a fly. I guess someone was looking for revenge. I'm sure the killer must have been at the funeral. Although, I had the sensation that it was Chris, but it wasn't him after all.
Mother was acting suspicious and didn't look surprised at this incident. Steve was in the corner of the living room looking at a photo of Father. He was crying like he lost his best friend. I don't blame him. We're all in mourning but Mother looked as if she was faking her tears. Sh was just watching television with no expressions on her face.
I had over 25 missed calls from relatives and friends. My Facebook timeline was filled with condolences from over 100 friends. Especially Jen and Vanessa. They turned out to be my closest friends. They all sent me long message me to encourage me and stay strong. They are now my bestest friends. We might go through loads of trouble but they are always comforting me.
"Ding Dong"
That was the doorbell. We weren't expecting anyone.
A few seconds passed and I reached the front door.
"Oh hey Carly! It's so good to see you" said Connor.
Connor was my older brother who was sent away to Canada by Father at age 16 because of his terrible behavior in class and at home. He's now 21.
"Oh hey! Where were you?" I asked surprised.
"I heard the news..." he said sadly.
"Oh yeah... This is something I would never expect." I said.
"Where's Steve?" he asked kindly.
"Oh, hmm Steve is in the living room crying and suffering." I said tearfully.
"Oh gosh. This must be a hard time for him." he said arrogantly. "Where's mum by the way?"
"Yeah, she's watching tv" I said.Connor and Carly went to Mother and they sat beside her, comforting her. Mother wasn't showing any expressions and looked as if she forgot what happened a few days ago.
"Mother! What's wrong with you?!" I yelled. "You look as if you don't even know what happened. You're leaving Steve crying in the corner than to actually talk to him and encouraging him." I said confidently.
Mother came to me and slapped me.
"Look here! You have no right to tell me what to do... If Steve is crying after his father, I can't do anything about it!!" she shouted.
Connor wasn't saying anything and was just looking at us as if we've gone nuts.
"Connor! What are you doing there sitting around?!" I yelled. "Go to Steve! He's in pain." I said.
"Mother! I feel like I'm his mother because it seems that I comfort him whereas you can't even go to him and discuss. What is wrong with you??" I explained.
She slapped me again for three times.
"You can't be like a mother. You're not even an adult. I'm also in pain and do not want to deal with anyone right now especially you Carly!" she yelled.
"Hey! I'm nearly 18! I'm gonna be 18 next month. Sure! You're in pain. It looks like it. The only thing you can do is just watch TV when you're in pain. That's the only thing you can do." I yelled.
I went to Steve and carried him up the stairs in his room and sat with him.
"Steve. Listen. I know you're in pain, but we have to stop crying.
What happened has happened. It's the past." I told him.
"Car..Carl.. Carly." he said in a feeble voice. "I feel as if I am gonna die." he said sadly.
"Steve. Don't say that. We're all going through this. We will go through this together." I said positively.
"Hey Steve! How are you bro?" said Connor.
"Oh my! Connor, what are you doing here?" he said surprised.
"Yeah. I came to see you guys." Connor said.
"What? Really? You decided after 5 years to come and talk to us?" Steve said rudely.
"By the way. Were you here for the funeral?" Steve asked curiously.
"Yeah, I was actually here a day before he died because he invited me to celebrate for my new job and his raise." he said shyly.
"Hey! I'm still here isn't it?" Connor said foolishly.
"Carly! Help me out here!" Steve told me indubitably.
"I don't need to help you. He knows what he's done." I said smartly.
"Connor! You were away for nearly half the life of Steve. He's nearly 15 and you were away for nearly 6 years. You never even bothered to call us." I said expressively.
"Carly, don't get too sassy about it. You could also give a call. Let's go down and see what mum is up to." he said annoyed.
"Whatever. I'm not being sassy. It's called being honest." I said smoothly.
"Let's go downstairs" said Steve demandingly.
"Oh by the way, Carly, sorry for you and Chris." he chuckled.
"Stop talking Connor!" I shouted.Carly, Connor and Steve went downstairs and Mother fell asleep on the living room sofa. Few minutes passed and she woke up. She looked at them in a freaky way.
"So, what's going on mum?" Steve asked politely.
"Stop talking Steve. I don't have the appetite of talking." she said foolishly.
"Mum! Not to be rude, but you're acting too bitchy. Why can't you even talk to your son? You must have gone nuts." I told her truthfully.
"Listen here, Carly. I'm devastated." she said weakly.
"Yeah... Sure.. Devastated." I said sarcastic.
"Carly. Just shut up. You're so damn annoying for me and for Mother. Will you just zip your mouth?" Connor said arrogantly.Mother looked at me with a huge grin letting out a sigh.
"You heard him! Go upstairs to your room." Mother said joyfully.
As soon as I grudge up the stairs lazily, I see her watching TV happily as if nothing happened during the previous days.
When I reached my room, I remembered all the results. So it's no surprise this person killed him.************************************************************
