The Teenage Struggle

Chapter Eight

"What?" I asked oddly.
"Calm down Carly." the officer said.
"Calm down?! My mother is in prison for the past 4 days and you want me to be calm? Tell me now who is the killer?" I demanded.
"Ok. Have a seat." The officer said slowly.
"Can you shut up Carly?" Steve said quickly.
"Well, the killer is.." the officer said until he was interrupted.
"Oh! There you are!" Connor said.
"What are you doing here?" I said angrily.
"I was looking for you guys." he said nervelessly.
"Sorry if I'm interrupting Carly, but who is this young man?"
"Oh I'm sorry. Let me introduce him. He is my annoying older brother. Connor." I said furiously.
"What? His name is Connor?
C-O-N-N-O-R?" Officer asked peculiarly.
"Why yes it is." I answered respectfully.
"Connor, are you 21?" Officer asked oddly.
"Yeah. I am. Why?" Connor said frightfully.
"Oh, just asking. Well. Case is solved. I will tell you later." Officer told us.
"Mother will be released today." he said.
"Yay! Finally!" Steve yelled joyfully.
"Really? Yes!" I said in a relief.

Connor's P.O.V
I don't understand what was that incident with the police officer. Why did he want to know my personal information. He might be up to no good. Why is another supposed to be released so quickly? She only remained there for not more than 4 days. I saw that Carly and Steve looked so innocent that made me feel like the most guilty from all the siblings.

Carly's P.O.V
I don't know what to say. Steve had an enormous smile on his face when he heard the news of Mother being released.

"Mum! I'm so happy to see you!" Steve said to Mother with a kiss on her cheek.
"Connor! Come give me a hug!" Mother said happily.
"Hey Mum! Sorry that I was mean to you on the phone." I said with an apology.
"Whatever." Mother chuckled.

They finally arrived home except of Connor. Connor went to his apartment. It was finally 11 o'clock in the night and the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" I yelled to everyone.
"Oh hi Carly." the officers said.
"Hi. Umm. What's going on?" I asked interrogatively.
"We have the results." they said.
"Umm. Ok. Come on in." I said delightfully.

We all gathered in a circle and we all stared at the officers waiting for them to tell us the name of the killer.

"Ok. This is very awkward and very difficult to tell you." The officer said.
"So, the killer is..." Officer Kevin said.
"Connor." he said as he completed his sentence.
We all stood still and we looked at the officers with our mouth opened and no one was making a sound.
