New Interest

It was Saturday and Piper and Polly were together at the mall looking for something to wear to Pete's party, which was still 3 weeks away. Pete was Polly's friend that she's had a crush on since 9th grade.

Polly loved shopping, she was an expert at it, she'd already found what she was going to wear and was helping piper decide between a black lace dress or a short white dress. They'd finally decided on the short white dress.

They were at the checkouts about to pay when Piper looked up to give the cashier her money when she was stunned by how extremely good-looking she was. Piper had never fancied a girl before and she was so intrigued by what she was feeling.

"That's forty-five dollars and eighty cents" The cashier said as she was discreetly checking out piper.

"y-yeah" piper snapped out of her thoughts and handed over the money. "do you want your receipt?" asked the cashier

"yes, yes please" replied piper as she was still checking out the cashier. The cashier handed over the receipt and the two touched hands accidentally and Piper felt this rush of electricity going through her as she took the receipt and walked away thinking over what just happened. They both obviously knew there was a connection between them.

"so what was with that?" asked Polly.

"who is that girl?" replied Piper totally un-acknowledging the original question.

"oh that was um, umm whats her face... Alex, yeh she goes to our school"

"really?! oh my god how have i not noticed her before?"

"two words. self. obsessed" Polly said jokingly.

Piper punched her on the arm playfully "like you can talk"

Piper went made her way home alone thinking about Alex and how she couldn't believe she'd never seen her before.

It was now 6pm and her mother, Carol Chapman, had called her down to dinner. The rest of her family Bill, her dad, and Cal, her brother, were sitting at the table. There was never really much conversation at the dinner table other than 'how was school' 'how was your day', Pipers parents never really had a conversation together unless it was about the kids or school. Piper finished her dinner half an hour later and went back to her room.

It was the next day and Piper had to look after Cal because her Parents were out for the day. She didn't know why he couldn't take care of himself because he was 13.

Cal was playing video games on his computer and Piper was bored so she decided to go out. "I'll be back before mum and dad get home, okay?"

"okay have fun" Cal said as he was not bothered with what piper did.

Piper went to the shop she went to yesterday with Polly to see if Alex was there. She caught the bus there and it took 20 minutes which wasn't bad for Piper. She walked into the shop and straight away she could see Alex hanging up shirts.

She walked over to Alex and said hey

"hey, do you need any help?" Alex said as she put her glasses on top of her head.

"well kind of.. I was just coming to see you actually.." Piper said in a flirting way as she was distracted by Alex putting her glasses on top of her head.

"well I'm about to go on break so do you want to get a drink"

"yeah, that sounds good" Piper said starting to blush

"coffee's?" Alex suggested

"yeah sure"

"i've seen you around school you're Piper right?"

"yep and you're Alex?"

"yeah that's me"

Alex ordered a coffee and Piper ordered a mocha. "how long have you been working at that shop?" asked piper in an attempt to make small talk

"actually i just started, mum needs help with money so yeah i thought i could help out"

Piper started to smile in admiration "do you like working there?"

"yeah it's okay i guess, the manager's a creepy old fuck and some of the customers can be assholes but yeah it's okay" Alex said as she let out a small laugh

Piper laughed a little. "hey I'm going to this party in a few weeks, I was wondering, do you wanna maybe go with me" Piper asked shyly

"yeah that sounds like fun"

"okay ill talk to you about later and we can sort out a plan then" piper smiled

"yeah- shit what time is it, i think my breaks over i better head back but i'll talk to you soon" Alex said quickly as she was rushing back. On her way back she accidentally dropped her phone.

Piper picked up her phone and as soon as she did she got a message

Nicky- you with the hot blonde girl ?

Piper looked at the phone and smiled. This made her a lot more interested in Alex knowing that she might feel the same way. Piper chased Alex back into the shop.

"Alex you dropped your phone" she said as she was puffed out from running

"oh thank you so much, you're a fucking life saver" she said as she smiled at Piper

"no worries" Piper said as she shot back the smile

During the rest of Alex's shift she couldn't stop thinking about Piper. She'd felt feelings towards girls before but never like this, these feelings were different. Just then she got a text from someone

Nicky- so how was your little date?

Alex- It wasn't a date... it was just coffee

Nicky- so do you like her?

Alex- I honestly don't know, maybe

Nicky was Alex's best friend, ever since grade 1 they've always been best friends. Nicky always understood Alex even though Alex was never much of an emotional person, Nicky knew her best and she could tell something was going on.

Piper was confused wether she liked her or not. She knew she liked her but she was scared to admit because she had never liked a girl before, she was just trying to decide wether those feelings were for just being friends or being more than friends.
