Eleven

School is over for the year and I couldn't be happier. As everyone floods out of school I try to find Alex. I haven't seen her since earlier today when she said she had to go. I decide to try call her.

The phone doesn't even ring it just goes straight to message bank.

'Al where you at?' I send as a text

I don't get an immediate reply so I put my phone in my pocket and decide to walk to the coffee shop. As I walk through school I remember most of the moments that happened over the past year. As I get to the end of the corridor it hits me that next year is my final year of school. I'll be a senior next year, 'what the fuck' I think to myself as I walk out of school.

As I walk out of school I see something behind the tree. I hear voices and one sounds very familiar. I walk over to the tree and then I soon realise it's Alex, with some girl.

"Alex ?" I call out,

"oh shit.." she murmurs "Pipes, Hey" She says as she hides something behind her back.

I look around to see a girl with short brown hair holding a packet of cigarettes. What are they doing?

"Who's that" I ask as i signal to the other girl who just smirks at me.

"oh that's cindy" Alex says likes its no big deal.

I can smell the smoke on Alex from here "Didn't realise you smoked" I say in a pissed off tone

She brings her hand back from behind her back holding a cigarette.

"old habit" she says as she puts out the cigarette.

"mhmm" I say as I nod

"Well.. I suppose I better go, i'll see you later Alex, bye Piper" Cindy says as she grabs her bag but leaves behind the pack of cigarettes.

"Who the fuck's that?!" I ask as I can no longer hold onto any form of calmness.

"Piper, babe, chill" Alex says as she avoids my glare, then continues "She's just a friend from my tech class, and I dunno I just wanted to have a smoke I suppose and I know you don't like them so.." Alex says as she shrugs

"How do you know that?" I say trying to disprove her point

"Babe, cmon, you know you don't like this sort of stuff" She says as she raises her eyebrow

She's right but I don't want her to feel right. I hold out my hand and nod towards the packet. Alex looks shocked.

"Pipes you don't have to.." she says as she slowly reaches for the packet.

I don't say anything I just nod again toward the packet. What am I doing? She passes me the packet and then the lighter. Do I even know how to do this? I open it up and get one of few left in there out. I place it in my mouth and place the lighter underneath it. I ignite the lighter and smoke starts to light. I suck in and inhale the smoke so it fills my lungs. It kind of hurt but I feels quite cool.

I take the cigarette out of my mouth and then say "and you didn't think I could" Then I exhale and the smoke leaves my lungs.

Alex just looks up at me with a cheeky smile then holds out her arm to reach for the smoke. I raise my eyebrow and then softly bite my lip. She stands up in front of me and holds out her hand.

"Please" she says lifts her glasses on top of her head.

God I love it when she does that. I hand her over the cigarette and she takes a drag then leans in to kiss me. I kiss her back quickly then lean away.

"Let's go home" I say

She raises her eyebrow "alright boss" she says teasingly.

As we make our way back to Alex's it's quiet but there's the odd conversation about our day but nothing to do with Alex and that girl. Although I kissed her back it doesn't mean I'm happy with her. Why won't she tell me what she was doing?
