Twelve

It's school holidays and Christmas was just a few days ago. I haven't talked to Alex since the last day of school. I've been hanging out with Polly a lot more lately. She invited me to her New years eve party coming up in 3 days. 

I'm going to the mall with Polly so she can buy something to wear to her party. We go into one of the shops and she looks at the dresses and suggest stuff I should wear, I love Polly but the clothes she picks out are a different story. 

"So have you seen the new girl that moved into that house down the road from us?" She asks as she scans through the rack of clothes.

"oh uh no, who is it?" I asks

"I don't know, I think her name is like Steph or Stacey, she seem's pretty cool, I invited her to my party for you" Polly says as she smiles thinking she did me a massive favour.

"for me? I don't even know her?" I question

"yeah.. but I'm like 90% sure she's gay" she says

"Oh... tell me more" I say with a smirk on my face. I haven't really talked to anyone since Alex so I guess it would be nice to at least meet someone new.

"Told you you'd be interested, well she's got short hair.. Oh and she's Australian" She says

I Nod my head as she carries on about this girl. She sounds pretty cool, I just need someone to take my mind off Alex.

3 days later

"Polly you ready?" I call out to Polly in the bathroom.

"2 seconds" She calls out in return. It's the night of her party and some people have already started to rock up. I see Pete start to walk up the starts and I wave to him. 

"Pete's here" I call out and the door almost opens immediately. 

"Hey gorgeous" He says as he kisses her cheek and hugs her. I try to contain my disgust and I just raise my eyebrows and give a fake smile.

"I'll leave you two to it" I say as I walk down the stairs and hear them start to make out already. I decide to go out the back for a smoke. There is a fair few people here already, most people are outside smoking too. I walk to where there aren't many people standing and pull my cigarettes out of my pocket of my jeans. 

"Hey" I hear someone say as I'm lighting my cigarette.

I look up and take a breath of my smoke then reply, "Hey" 

"do you want one?" I offer as I hold my pack of ciggs out. 

"don't mind if do" The girl says as she takes one. "I'm Stella" she then says.

"I'm Piper" I reply as I hand her the lighter.

"oh you're Polly's friend right?" she says as she runs her hand through her hair.

I can't help but bite my lip from how attractive she is. Her short brown hair, her great figure, her style, her accent and her tattoo's make me weak at the knee's. 

"yeah" I say as I try to discretely check her out.  

"So you with anyone tonight?" She asks as she noticeably bites her lip.

"Me? oh no, I'm not" I say

"Good" She says as she smirks

"I'm gonna go get a drink, do you want one?" I say as I put out my cigarette.

"Yeah a drink would be good" She says as we start walking inside.

As we walk through the door I feel her hand on my lower back as she follows me through the crowds of people to the kitchen where the drinks are. As we get to the kitchen we see a couple stare at us then walk out. I just ignore them.
