Chapter Three
Max's PoV
'I'm back!' I yelled as I entered the house half an hour later. 'Hi!' George yelled back. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed two apples. I like fruit. 'I'm going to the gym soon!' I yelled. 'Okay! Interesting!' George shouted sarcastic. 'I know, I'm such an interesting person!' I said and entered the living room. 'You know, you could use a few lessons George!' I teased. 'Oh, please! Look at my six pack and say it again!' He answered. 'You mean the six pack which you're so proud of you protect it with fat?' He nodded. 'Well, that one doesn't exist!' I said. George slapped my arm and continued to watch TV. Spongebob, again. 'Where's Jessie?' 'She’s in the studio.' He answered. ‘Anyways, Max… You know, I’d really like it if you and Jessie would get along well, and I want you and Jess… to hang out for a bit, so you can get to know her, you know…’ He said nervously. ‘Okay, no problem! I’m going to hit the gym, see ya!’ I said and went to the gym.
While I was doing my workouts I thought about what George said… About me hanging out with Jessie… I’d love to get to know her, she seems like a nice person. After an hour of doing workouts it was enough, so I went home, showered and pulled on my PJ's even though it was only 5pm. I walked into the kitchen with my earphones in, blasting some Jessie J while cleaning the kitchen. I bought her album this morning, because now she’s dating my best friend and I thought it would be nothing but normal to listen to her music. I was surprised at how much I actually liked it! My favorite song was L.O.V.E.. I don’t know why, it just had some kind of thing I really liked. I hummed along to the songs while doing the dishes, cleaning the cupboards and scrubbing the floor. ‘TAKE ME DOWN LIKE I’M A DOMINO!’ I yelled and slid across the floor in my socks, which was really funny to do because the floor was smooth, because I cleaned it. I heard a giggle behind me. I spun around and blushed. Jessie was standing in the doorway! ‘Err… Hey Jess! How was the interview?’ I asked, acting like nothing happened. ‘You’re actually a pretty good dancer!’ She said and choked before laughing loudly again. I laughed with her, her laugh is so contagious! Just hearing her laugh makes you laugh with her. ‘I liked the way you slid across the floor… Like a ninja!’ she said, still laughing. ‘Y’know, I got some awesome dance skills!’ I said and winked. If there’s something I absolutely suck at, it’s dancing. I’ve never been really good at it. I smiled, turned around and searched through the cupboards, trying to find something to eat. ‘What are you looking for?’ she asked and walked over to help me. ‘Something to eat… I’m going to cook.’ I said. Jessie smiled and grabbed a cupboards handle, the same I grabbed and instead of grabbing the handle she grabbed my hand. A spark ran through me. I know it sounds cheesy, like something described in a fanfic, but this was real. I looked into her eyes, confused, and blushed. So did Jessie and she quickly let go of my hand. ‘I-I’m just going… I’m going to- Yeah I think I’m just gonna…’ She said and turned around. ‘Okay than…’ I mumbled and continued to search through the cupboards.
‘Dinner’s ready!’ I shouted and Jessie and George entered the kitchen. ‘What’s for dinner?’ George asked hungrily. Jessie whispered something in his ear and his eyes widened. ‘Lasagne! Home-made lasagne!’ I said happily. ‘I love lasagne!’ Jessie said, ignoring my presence. All of her attention was drawn at George. Not weird though, they’re dating. A pang of jealousy hit me. I sighed and placed the lasagne on the table-mat. George and Jessie kept whispering during dinner, which kind of annoyed me. I was staring out of the window, trying to hear what they were saying, but it didn’t work. I have to go work tomorrow. I work at the gym I earlier practiced.
As an instructor you have to keep your body in good shape, you know. ‘What are you guys going to do tomorrow?’ I asked. ‘Well, Jessie’s got an interview and I’m going to hang out with Will.’ ‘Okay… I’m upstairs, if you need me.’ I said awkwardly and went into my room. I climbed into my bed and pulled the cover over my head when I heard someone enter my room. ‘Max?’ A voice called softly. I groaned and pulled the cover tightly over my body. The person grabbed the cover and pulled it away. ‘Hey Jessie.’ I said. Jessie laughed and gave me back my cover. ‘What’s up?’ I asked and patted on the place next to me. Jessie sat down and crossed her legs, staring at the ceiling. ‘Well… err, I was wondering… Y’know, if you don’t want to you can just say no, but yeah-’ ‘Where is this conversation going? Just ask, okay?’ I said and Jessie took a deep inhale of breath. ‘Do you want to hang out with me Friday? We can go shopping, or err…’ I burst out in laughter and Jessie slapped my arm playfully. ‘What?’ she asked. ‘Was it really that difficult to ask? Of course, I’d love to!’ I said and hugged. Jessie’s face lit up and she hugged me back. ‘We can go shopping! I need new shoes!’ she said dramatically. ‘Hmm… I want to buy me some new sneakers… You can never have enough sneakers. I like sneakers, they’re comfy.’ I said. ‘I know right! People are always telling me one suitcase is enough, but I always take two!’ ‘How many months are you staying if you take two suitcases full of shoes with you?’ I asked, laughing. ‘Well, err… a week.’ She said and blushed. I laughed and she slapped my arm again. I grabbed my pillow and hit her. ‘Oh, it’s on now!’ she yelled and took a pillow in her hands.
15 minutes later we were laying next to each other, trying to catch our breath. We were both laughing and covered in feathers. One of my pillows didn’t survive our fight. ‘I’m sorry for your pillow,’ Jessie said, laughing. ‘It’s okay, I’ll just buy a new one.’ ‘Okay, so you’re still up for Friday?’ ‘Hell yes I am!’ I said, grinning.
