CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

I threw some money on the table and ran after Holly, she was outside by now. I grabbed her elbow causing her to turn around, falling into my arms as she did. The rain was pouring down on us. 'Holly,' I choked. She looked up and her eyes met mine, she smiled shyly and stepped away from me. 'I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't have done it, I was just being silly for thinking you'd like me the way I like you, I mean, we've only known each other for a day and I shouldn't have these feelings-' she rambled, I interrupted her. 'I know. I shouldn't have these feelings either, but I can't deny it. Why would I deny it? We should cherish it and try to make something of it, you know, us... I know it's soon; too soon, but I just can't help the way you make me feel.' Holly's face lit up and she nodded. 'I think we should too.'

Me and Jessie didn't go home; instead we went to the park and sat down on a blanket, staring at the water of the lake laying out in front of us. We stared into each other's eyes and Jessie leaned in and softly kissed my lips. 'I love you,' I whispered to her lips. Jessie sighed and pulled away. 'You always say you love me, I know, and I love you more, but it's just I can't understand HOW you can love me, I mean, I must be so annoying with my OCD and talking the whole time,' she said. 'Jess, that's not true, you're very lovable you know. I love you. I love your hair, well, that's what left of it,' I said and chuckled softly before stroking her head, 'I love your forehead,' I said and pressed a kiss onto her forehead, before continuing, 'I love your eyes. I love the way every time I look into them, I can find like... another part of you. Another part I don't want to lose,' I kissed her closed eyes, 'I love your nose, and I love the way you scrunch it up when I kiss it,' I kissed her nose and she scrunched up her nose as always, I laughed. 'I love you lips, they're so soft and pink and kissable,' I pressed my lips onto hers and wrapped my arms around her neck. I pulled away and brought my lips up to her ear to whisper: 'I love the way your body responds when I whisperer in your ear.' Jessie shivered and wrapped her arms around my waist, pulling me closer. 'I love you, Jessie, I love you more than I love anything. You're my princess. You're my everything. You are more than my everything, you're my universe, my life, you are my other half, my soulmate. But most importantly, you are mine. And I want you to be mine forever.' As I said this, I kneeled down to one knee and took her hand in mine. I sighed contently and looked over to the lake. It was like a fairytale being here with Jessie, the way the moonlight was reflected in her perfectly, the way she smiled; it was just perfect. I had never been so happy in my whole life, everything was going great; I had a perfect girlfriend, I found back my old friend, nothing could ruin this moment. I took a deep breath. This was it. But the question was: were we really ready to take this relationship further? I know I was, I couldn't live life without Jessie. I needed her. My drug, my addiction, I needed her affection and I was craving her attention. I sat there, remembering the past year with Jessie by my side. They were just pure bliss. I felt blessed to have this amazing woman standing by my side, being there for me when I needed her most. I felt blessed for being able to make her happy, I felt blessed for being the reason for her smile or blushing. 'Look at the stars,' I said and pointed at the sky, 'They are shining for you.' Jessie giggled cutely. 'Remember when I gave you the necklace half a year ago? The one with the heart?' I asked her. 'Of course I do. I remember when you gave it to me, you said: 'Now all you need to do is breathe, and than you'll know my heart is yours, it's against your chest. The place where it belongs,' it was honestly the sweetest thing someone has ever told me,'
Jessie sighed contently and stood up, probably going to walk away, but I stopped her and remained on one knee. I pulled out a box and placed it in her hand. 'Jessica Cornish, I love you, and I know I can love you forever. I want us to be together forever. Our love is infinite. Dear Jessie, life will test us, but I know we can get through this, we can get through anything, as long as we have each other. I don't want to lose you,' I whispered. 'You will never lose me, I promise,' Jessie said and a teardrop rolled down her cheek. 'Jessica Cornish, will you do me the extraordinary honour to become my wife?' I asked and looked up at her. More teardrops rolled down her cheeks and fell onto the floor. I stood up and wrapped my arms around her, still waiting for her reply. 'Yes, yes! A thousand times, yes! I love you so much Max,' Jessie whispered in my ear. 'I love you more,' I whispered back. 'Impossible.'
