IMPORTANT A/N AT THE END. PLEASE READ!Chapter 17:
Amira's POV:
I finally looked up.
I gasped in shock once my eyes laid on him. His face was bruised, swollen. His neck was covered in scars and just by looking at them I could tell that they weren't new.
I couldn't utter a word nor move an inch. I felt as if I was completely paralyzed.
Finally, coming to my senses I move closer to his face leaving a decent amount of space between us.
I felt his gaze on me and moved back. He turns his head so I don't see more but I've already seen enough. I could feel his eyes burning holes through me so I moved further away from him. He turned his head, trying to cover his bruised face but I've already seen more than enough.
"W- what h- happened to you?" I asked stuttering.
He shook his head, avoiding the question.
"What happened to you?" I repeated.
I looked up at his tall frame.
"Too many question, princess," was his only response.
I frowned, not satisfied with his reply.
"Princess, what's wrong?" His voice changed into a concerned one, as though he didn't want me to be upset.
"Stop calling me princess, my name's Amira!" I yelled in frustration.
Every time he called me princess, I felt the butterflies erupt in my stomach. I love butterflies, but in my stomach? Hell nah.
"Amira. Amira, a gorgeous name, I love it," He grinned, showing off his perfect pearly white teeth. How on earth do people make their teeth so perfect and white?!
"Answer the bloody question!" I huffed in annoyance. But he did the exact opposite. He still stood there, his eyebrows scrunched together.
Ugh!
I stood up, searching for Badar, to get the hell outta here. This guy was getting on my nerves.
"Amira?" A familiar voice called from behind. I spun around on my heels, spotting Mazin.
I smiled brightly which probably made me look like a complete dork, but oh well.
Mazin looks at the guy's face but doesn't utter a word.
"Who's he, princess?" The stranger asked.
I look over at Mazin who is amused by this.
I sighed and told him.
"He's a friend of mine, you should probably go to the hospital," I said looking at the stranger.
"Well it was nice meeting you, princess." He shot me a smile.
I take a big breath and look at Mazin.
"Princess? What next, Queen?" He asked frustrated for some odd reason.
"Why does it matter to you?" I asked snapping back at him.
Control your anger or our plan after all these years are going to be epic failures.
The voice in my head said reminding me.
I clear my throat.
"I mean he's just a random person, no one else," I forced a smile.
"Badar, let's go!" I shouted.
They stop playing their little game of tag and walk towards us with a frown. Why do kids never get tired of running around?
"Yeah, its almost Maghrib anyways so, we should be heading back," said Mazin but I noticed how his voice sounded low and somewhat disappointed but I didn't bother ask why.
***********
"Mom, why are you cooking this much? And why didn't you tell me because I would have helped," I asked my mom who was cooking more food than she usually does.
"It does matter, we'll just eat it all like we do for Iftar!" Badar said happily as he tried to grab one of my Moms famous home-made brownies, with emphasis on the word tried, but mom slapped his hands away before he could steal one.
He groaned and got out of the kitchen muttering under his breath, "I swear I don't get fed in this house," which is absolutely a big fat lie!
"To answer your question I'm taking this to my future daughter in law!" she said then begins to do her embarassing typical mothers dance.
I was still trying to process what she said. Sister in law?
"Ahmed is getting married!" I shouted loudly causing Badar to come tumbling down the stairs.
"What! That thing is getting married! Finally I get to call dibs on his room," he screamed and because of it everyone came running downstairs.
They started shouting all at once.
"Everyone stop shouting! You're getting my blood pressure too high. Go and watch some TV," Dad ordered as he was annoyed by everyone yelling and fighting over Ahmed's room including me.
Somehow everyone settled down and went in the living room. Leaving me, Mom, Dad and Ahmed who joined us after the kids left.
Still happy about Ahmed getting married, a question popped in my head which didn't come across until now.
"Wait, who is he getting married to?" I questioned.
"Jasmine," answered Ahmed whose cheeks were red.
Wait, what!?! I thought.
"Jasmine as in Mazin sister?!" I asked with my eyes as wide as saucers.
They all nod their heads and look at me as if I'm crazy. Mazin is going to be my Brother in law!
Ugh, life can't get any better!
"Aww my baby is blushing!" Mom grabbed his cheeks and started pinching them.
As a reply he only mumbles things to himself which no one can hear while Mom stops pulling his cheeks.
I look at dad and we start laughing.
Both of his cheeks were now red like a tomato.
He glares at me and then storms out of the kitchen.
"Go, put on a fine dress Amira and please look good," my dad said giving me a peck on the cheek.
He walks over to Mom as his eyes wander around the room staring at the food Mom cooked like a hungry animal. That's when I realized why Badar loves food so much. He got it from dad.
I get out of the kitchen after hearing Dad ask Mom if he can have one.
I chuckle to my self and head to my room but then stop half way when I see Ahmed grabbing his hair in frustration which gets me worried.
"Ahmed, is everything all right?" I asked after I knock on the half open door.
He looks at me, then shakes his head no.
"Why?"
He turns around and takes a big sigh.
