Landon and I looked everywhere we thought his brother could possibly be but unfortunately finding him doesn't sound as easy as I originally thought. Finally we gave up on looking for him in the house and made the choice to ask the neighbors if they'd seen him, we divided the neighbors houses amongst ourselves and got to work trying to find him. He was only 8 after all, he couldn't have gone far.
I was assigned to go over to Miss Kaylee's house across the street. She is a young woman only about 20 I guess, despite the fact she is beautiful and young she isn't married and therefore prefers to have everyone call her Miss, she doesn't like her parents and refuses to be associated with them and goes by her first name instead of last. As I walked up her porch steps something in the bushes catches my eye, It's a skateboard that appears to have been snapped in two. It really didn't mean anything to me, so I went ahead and knocked on the door anyways I was expecting an immediate answer (usual response) but instead everything is silent. 3 minutes pass as I wait for an answer but all I hear is the sound of the wind, well that and footsteps. I don't know where they are coming from but that didn't matter because I was running to find Landon, there is not a doubt in my mind that there is something really weird going on in this neighborhood and we would soon find out exactly what. As I'm running down the street I finally see Landon. Now it's time to run, I grab his hand and say the one word I've become quite accustomed with,
"RUN!"
I turn around to see that the mysterious footsteps I heard earlier really did belong to trouble, and this time I don't think I'll escape so easily. Behind us stands the man that ruined my life, the man who gave me the gun that day. My question is, if he had wanted that man dead so badly why didn't he do it himself? Why did he have to bring me into this mess? I guess I don't have time to question that now since he's chasing us and this time he is not alone.
"Ummm... Yuka, who is this man and why is he chasing us?" Landon asks, the expression on his face shows true terror and all I could think of is how stupid I was to drag him into this.
"I don't know his name but that is the man who gave me the gun and I have a feeling I have something he wants." As I am talking I play with the key that is on a chain around my neck
"I'm pretty certain he fou-" Before I could finish my sentence I hear a gunshot and now it's clear that I was right and that we have to hide this before he can get this, even if I die trying it's better than having to know that my failure could mean the death of everyone I love and the destruction of the world as we know it.
I look over to Landon, he looks like he just saw a ghost, the snow on the ground doesn't even compare to the shade of white he is right now. I slow down a little and grab his hand and pull him in the closest building to us, which happened to be an abandoned toy shop. After about 10 minutes I felt safe enough to talk again. "We will be safe for a little here, if you wanna ask any questions now would be the time."
"So why exactly is this man after us?"
"You see this?" I ask as I pull the key off the necklace to show him, it's definitely not a new key and anyone who looks at it would be amazed with the exquisite beauty.
"Ya, what about it? Why is it so important?"
"This right here is the only thing that man needs to activate a machine that will possibly destroy this world, at the least it will destroy the United States and Canada (France's greatest dream)."
"Ummm..."
"Sorry, this must be a lot to take in. It was for me when my Grandpa told me before he entrusted me with the key, I was only 6 at the time and didn't fully understand what he meant until I was attacked at school when we were in 7th grade. Remember that?"
"Of course, how could I forget? I was there with you as you beat the snot out of that man. It was amazing, I think that was when I first began to like you." As he says that his face goes red, including his ears. How cute is that?!?
CRASH!
"Time to go!"
We ran and ran until I couldn't breath then we found our good friend Emi's house (Emi is her actual name, it is Japanese like mine :D ) As we reach her house we are hopeful, her car is home and the lights are on. Just as we think we are clear and we will be safe for a little we see him. The tall figure emerges from the shadows, the moon is shining bright enough that there are shadows everywhere. As I look over at Landon he is frozen and that's when I see It. A 25 millimeter hand gun pointing directly at me.
"Oh crap! I'm doomed."
"j-just ummm..." All of the sudden his face lights up like he has a great idea and then he does the unthinkable, he jumps in front of me and stands tall and proud. "If you wanna get her y-you will have to go through me."
"Why are you even with this girl, you could do so much better dude." The man spoke with a low, unamused voice.
"If you think I can do better then you obviously don't know Yuka, you can't get any better. She's an amazing fighter too, she beat the snot out of a man twice her size when she was only in the 7th grade."
"You two are pathetic. If you insist on getting in the way boy then let's fight. No weapons, just fists. What do you say?"
"Ummm... okay. Let's do this." The fight began and I was nervous, what if the man didn't stick to the no weapon rule set at the beginning? He might kill Landon. I guess I'll just have to watch and see. Landon starts out with receiving a punch to the jaw, how painful, but he fights back and hits the other guy in the throat and as he was struggling to get his breath back Landon grabbed me and once again we were on the run. The good news is we were safe for a little, or were we?
"What's that sound?" Landon asks, in the background there is a slow rumbling noise, we turn around to see a helicopter and once again a gun is aimed at me.
"Oh come on! What is up with you guys and guns? seriously. I'm getting tired of seeing a barrel pointing at me." This time they weren't just messing with us though, they wanted this to be over and done with just as much as I did if not worst.

AksiThis is a story I started in 9th grade in my English class. I decided it would be fun to transfer it here so you can all read it and give me some pointers and ideas in hopes to improve what I have thus far.
