A Close Call

"Man, am I glad this guy is a horrible aim", while trying to hit me he missed and hit the knot hole in the tree behind me. The tree seemed to just enclose the bullet in its bark and it looked like nothing happened at all, how odd.     As I look over at Landon he has an expression that could only mean one thing, that he is making some kind of elaborate plan to get us out of here, I sure hope his is better than mine because I really don't think you could find a herd of elephants in Utah in the middle of winter.

"Hey Yuka, do you happen to have a $5 bill?" Landon whispers. But with how quiet it is he could have yelled and it would have had the same effect.

"Ya, why do you need it?" I say puzzled.

"You'll see."

As he is beginning to walk I start biting my fingernails, I am so scared. What if he gets shot? I can't let that happen. I look around to try and find something I can distract them with and then I see it, It's a orange and blue dog collar with the name Al inscribed on the tag. I sure hope the owner of this collar doesn't mind if I borrow it, oh well they aren't here now. There's only one problem with my otherwise wonderful plan, how do you spark an explosion with a dog collar? I bet there is a YouTube video on that. As I am pondering different ways to distract him a girl comes out of the helicopter. She is dressed in all black with her long brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, she looks like she could be a model and yet she is here. Why is she here?!?

"What the heck! Why are there two people chasing us now? That's not fair!" I say flustered.

"It's simple, we are both searching for the same thing, but for different reasons of course." Until this point the girl hadn't spoken a single word. She has a weird almost british sounding accent. By now Landon has turned around, something about her is really bothering him, I don't know what though.

"W-who is this woman? She looks vaguely familiar."

"Oh, so you do remember me... brother."

Now he looks like he is seeing a ghost, and once again the snow doesn't even compare to the shade of white his face is.

"I-I thought you were- you know, dead."

"Well I'm not."

"Wait a minute! You're the sister that drown in the river. How are you here?!?" I burst out. I really must sound rude cause I shouted that last part really loud without meaning to.

"Well since you both are so eager to know and I have some time to kill before I have to report back to HQ I'll quickly tell you what really happened that day." She pauses. "It was summer three years ago, I was out playing in the woods while we were camping and I came across a weird looking rock, it didn't look like it was supposed to be there it was the wrong color and was just too big so I did what any normal 14 year old girl would do and I sat on it and began texting. Little did I know, this rock moved whenever an electrical signal is passed over it so as I was texting the rock under me moved and revealed a secret passageway underground so I went in it. That's where I found the head quarters of an organization known as S.A.A.W.D. Secret Agency Against World Destruction. The people there were amazed to see me and asked if I would like to join their organization and help protect the world. Of course my family could never find out so I would have to fake my death to keep the organization secret so I did. And this is where everything you know comes into play."

Landon is just staring, he has officially ran out of words to say. Me on the other hand, I have a lot of question I've been wanting to ask. "So how did you fake your death, I saw the body and it looked like you, how did you do that?"

"Simple we used a ballistics look alike with a 3D printed skeleton the size of me in it, then we covered it in a substance that looks like skin."

"Woah... that's cool. how did you-" Before I could finish the man who I'd forgotten was there grabbed me and was once again pointing at me but unfortunately he was close enough this time that if he shot there's no way he would miss.

"Step any closer and I'll shoot." He says to Landon who has just about to lunge at him. "Now for you miss agent you will tell me what your agency wants with the girl and then you will leave, got that?"

"What ever, as if. You already know why we want her so quit fooling around. Just leave Hecktor or I'll call for backup and this time you won't get away so easily." As I look at her I can tell that she is definitely related to Landon, the same eye color, and they look very similar when they are trying to be serious.

"You know agents aren't supposed to address each other by first name Sabrina, especially if they are from different agencies." As I look between these two I realize that they look about the same age meaning that Hecktor also must have faked his death to join an agency, but for a different cause I'm assuming.

"You know it sure would be nice if you two would let me go, then dispute over your differences, just a thought."

"Stay over there." he says and shoves me right into Landon's arms who once again catches me.

"Th-Thanks for catching me again." I say as I smile shyly, I'm fairly certain that my face is red right now but I don't care.

"What you think I would let you fall. Ya right." he says and then he kisses me on the cheek, I don't think I will ever get used to that whole boyfriend instead of just a friend thing. Like ever.

"Really?!? PDA, here? Really Landon? Whatever." Sabrina now catching up to speed on Landon and I says with great disgust in her tone then goes back to arguing with Hector.

"Well it seems that those two will be arguing for a while so what do you say we run and don't look back. I think we can make it. What do you say?"

"Let's do it!" I'm ready to get out of here as fast as I can.
