The week carried on boringly with Belle in her normal routine of driving Alfie to school, going to school herself, lessons, consoling, more lessons and homework. She didn’t have choir all week since their choir director was off on paternity leave until next week, as disappointing as this was for Belle it did mean she could finish the rest of her work and article before the weekend. The said weekend was instead spent with Alfie, Jenny and the twins as they looked after him with her, they had a Harry Potter marathon and ended up crashing in Belle’s living room on Saturday night. With a lack of sleep, that felt more like a hangover, Belle parked up at school and leant her head against the headrest closing her eyes for the last moments of peace and rest for the day. It was getting cold outside nearing the end of October, the sky was grey and threatening to rain but Belle didn’t mind since she liked driving in the rain it was better than walking, she was so glad she could drive. With a deep breath she pulled her car keys from the ignition and slipped out from her car met by Jack not the twins surprisingly. “You know you said you’ll never drop you duties,” he began without a hello
“What do you need?” Belle smiled pulling her rucksack from the back seat.
“Lag isn’t here today, man flu,” he chuckled
“Ah,” Belle smiled locking her car up before following Jack into their school “Sure you can hang with us, as long as you don’t mind that the twins are in their Harry Potter mood.”
He scrunched up his nose “I think I can handle that,” simultaneously the pair got a text and checked it
Jackson:
To: All 6th Years
RE: FANCY DRESS! Halloween Party
Mine, Booze, Saturday 6 til Sunday. Bring whatever and whoever, you know my address.
Belle and Jack looked up at each other and laughed, Jackson had a huge house up on the hill and his parties were known for being legendary, no expense was spared for his parties and his parents were probably somewhere in Europe. They carried on to English without another word about the party knowing they’d be talking about it for the rest of the day, “How was your weekend?”
“Harry Potter-full,”
“Is that even a word?” Jack laughed slightly
“I don’t know but it should be,” Belle grinned being bustled about by first years running to their lesson when the bell hadn’t even gone yet. “Yours?”
“Lonely,” Jack scrunched up his nose, Belle frowned but Jack just smiled “Don’t worry your pretty little head,” he laughed “See you at break,” he carried on down the corridor as Belle slipped into her buzzing English class. Jenny bounded up to her like a gazelle on roller-skates
“I was thinking sexy bumble bee,” she grinned
“Well that isn’t the weirdest welcome I’ve gotten,” Belle laughed dumping her bag next to her satchel at the back of the class. “But sure that’ll be great,”
“We’ll go costume shopping after school,” Jenny suggested
“I’ve got Alfie,” Belle scrunched her nose slightly
“Bring him he’ll love it!” Jenny’s voice reached a pitch that was almost supersonic, she took two calming breaths and began texting like crazy as she plonked herself down. Belle just laughed
“Belle door,” Hayley Daye, a mousy girl sat at the front of the class, called. Belle turned to see Mrs Easton grinning at the door, way too excitedly, did she think she was invited to the party too? Belle smiled to herself as she headed to the door. Belle stepped out of class seeing who was stood next to her, Lost Boy from the supermarket, “Hello again?”
