PROLOGUE:

It's been three years.

Three years since my father died.

No one really knows what happened to him. Just that he disappeared one night and never came back.

Not even for his own daughter.

The police found his body in the lake across town. He drowned inside his car. The police say it was suicide.

I know he would never do that. Not to me, not to my aunt, not to anyone he loves.

But he did. And it hurts me so much to think that he would leave me.

My mother died while giving birth to me. It was just me and my dad, well until he left me too. Now I'm with my aunt Nancy. My dads sister.

My name is Rowen. Rowen Marie. I'm 17 years old and starting my first day at a new school tomorrow. I'm just not ready.

People say I should've been over my father's death by now.

Others say that I can't do it by myself. They say I need someone to help me forget.
