Chapter 4:

Numbness. All over. That's all I felt.

I couldn't feel my heart beating. I wasn't even sure if I was still breathing.

Everywhere I looked all I saw was him. I saw his smile, his eyes, and all the memories we had together.

I felt the wetness on my cheeks but I knew I wouldn't be able to stop it. The next thing I knew I felt hands grasping my shoulders shaking me violently.

Once I snapped out if my little "trance" I looked up to meet the eyes of Keegan. He looked worried.

"Rowen are you okay?" He asked cautiously.

I nodded my head.

" I'm fine." I said weakly barely making the words come out of my mouth. I knew I wasn't okay I just didn't want Keegan to know that.

" no. No you're not." He said shaking me a little.

"I'm. Fine." I said sternly this time.

He looked taken back by my sternness but it quickly disappeared as he grabbed my shoulders once more.

I hadn't noticed I started to breathe really heavy. Trying to calm myself I sat down on a rock nearby. Keegan followed me over and sat down right next to me. I could tell by the way he looked at me that he was worried. I just couldn't tell him about why I panicked I can't trust anyone. No one anymore.

"Please rowen tel me what's wrong." He pleaded.

I closed my eyes and thought about it. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I tell one person. Wait what if he goes and tells his friends or worse.. Tells the whole school. My life will be even more ruined than it already is.

"I-I can't." I whispered ashamed.

"You can tell me rowen. Please, trust me." He whispered back.

I couldn't believe what I was about to do.

" my dad died in this damn lake okay?! One night he left me and never came back! I was at a friends house so I didn't find out until morning. God dammit he left me!! All alone with no one else! I don't even have my mom anymore! I'm stuck with my aunt Nancy. She takes care of me well but I miss my dad so much!! I can't stand here and not think of his body in the lake right now!! Okay I'm sorry I'm not happy that you took me here I'm just, just I'm a mess." I screamed at the top of my lungs. I felt so guilty telling him like that but I has to let it out. I had to let out all my rage. I couldn't take it anymore. I am just a mess.

"I'm sorry." I said weakly after my outrage.

I looked up at Keegan for the first time after I broke down and I looked at him. Well more like stated. The look in his face was well it was broken almost. It was like e understood all my pain. He was just sitting there looking at me with the most sorry expression anyone could ever give. And it pissed my off. Terribly.

" I'm so sorry rowen I didn't know. We can go back and do something else if you don't want to stay here i-I'm so sorry I-"

"Keegan Keegan it's okay!" I said.

"I just had to get that out." I said shyly.

There goes that look again.

"Who else have you told?" He asked me

"Just you..." I looked up at him.

The look on his face was pure and utter shock.

I almost laughed at him.

"Come on." I said sort of smiling now,"lets go get some ice cream or something."

I said casual as nothing ever happened.

He just nodded his head and started to lead me back to the truck.

Once we get back to the truck I hopped into the passenger seat. He climbed in the drivers seat and started up the truck.

We arrived at the ice cream parlor in about ten minutes after leaving the woods.

The whole trick ride was silent. It was a pretty awkward silence but I didn't really think twice about it. He stopped the truck and hopped out quickly. He walked over to my door and helped me out giving me a small smile.

"I still have to be a gentleman." He said sweetly, "this is still a date." Adding a wink.

I laughed at him while we walked into the shop.

After a while we were sitting at a table for two eating our Ice cream peacefully.

"So." Keegan started awkwardly, "what do you do as a hobby?" He asked curiously.

I laughed. "We'll I like art." I said proudly.

"Oh really..?" He said impressed. "Do you mind drawing a picture of me?" He asked trying to be every bit of cocky.

I laughed my ass off. That's when I realized that I was being myself. I could on my really be myself when I'm around Keegan and yay shocked me a little bit.

Once we finished our ice cream it was about five o'clock in the evening. We had been sitting at the ice cream shop for about two hours. It was nice too.

He drove me back to my house and turned to look at me. We just sat there and looked at each other. Then he finally spoke.

" thanks for going out with me rowen." He said while the corner of his lips lifted up into a smile.

"No thank you for taking me out." I laughed.

"Again I'm really sorry about what happened." He said really sincere.

"Nah. It's okay." I tried to brush it off

He still had that look of doubt on his face but he pushed past it.

We were back to the staring at each other. And to be honest it was comfortable to sit like this staring at Keegan's gorgeous face. Then it hit me.

I was starting to fall for him. And I was falling pretty hard.
