Kilorn^
From afar she can see the small shelters roof from behind a few trees. She approaches the cabin and has the urge to speak out to her grandfather. I miss you granddad. She continues into the door, there is no key needed, she places both her hands on the cold metal door in front of her and gives it a little nudge, then she thrusts her body into the door to open it. The door flies open dropping her inside. I am always on the floor I guess I do belong as dirt. She looks around in the small room for a bag that should have a few coins inside.
"Where is it?" She says sharply, she walks towards the back of the room and opens a metal rusted draw she yanks it open and there inside is a small yellow sewed bag. She picks it up and grins. I can get a new shirt. Maybe even a dress- "What? Am I saying? No I'm getting a shirt. And here I go again talking to myself."
Del closes the metal rusted draw and turns to leave the shelter. There is a string on the opposite side of door so you can pull it shut, considering there is no door knob.
She leaves the shelter and doesn't look back. She continues walking east to head to the Stilts that isn't really far.
Its called the Stilts because the whole entire village is on stilts. Because in the spring the lower bank is under water, and in the summer it is really hot.
Del walks out the woods and makes a turn where she can begin to see the village, she sees little shops. She begins to walk into the village her first stop is to see Gisa, she is a seamstress.
Del begins walking and sees all red walking by, seeming so out of it down. Kids are happy playing with rocks in the dirt.
Del walks up to the villages small store. A bell above the door clangs, which informs the workers someone has entered.
A head pops out from below a desk. The man is on the floor fixing something. "Hello, how may I help you on this fine day?" Fine day. Del repeats deeply. "Hello- I am looking for a Gisa Barrow." The man behind the counter stands up and dusts his knees off. He rolls his shoulders back, inhales a deep breath raising his head high back and then looks to the floor. "Gisa was in a situation with Mare." Del looks at him confused, "Excuse me? Who is Mare?"
"Mare is Gisa's older sister she is due for conscription soon. As well as you."
Del looks to the floor and nods, "Yes conscription." Conscription is a mandatory military service, for all red bloods at a certain age. Unless you are an apprentice, you don't get conscripted.
Del isn't an apprentice. She'll be conscripted soon. Or maybe not.
Del begins to ask him a question, "What happened to Gisa?"
"Gisa was out in the woods with her sister, when she tried to steal from a sentinel and they broke her hand."
Del looked at him shocked, stealing I was hoping Gisa will never have to be in that situation, which would lead to steal. Or at least any child. Del bowed her head and looked back up to the man, "Well, thank you sir. I'll be heading out." The man quickly stopped her, "We have another seamstress who works here! You do not have to leave." He smiles and looks at her in hopes she stays. "No thanks, I - " I don't want anything, I don't need anything. This is wrong. "Its alright, have a good day." She doesn't say what she was thinking, of course she didn't. She walks to the wooden door and pulls, the door swings open and the bell chimes, she steps out and begins to walk off, she looks back at the store as she leaves. How could anyone do that, especially to a young girl. If that happened to Gisa , that can happen to any kid. Del stares at the floor and she continues to walk.
She hurries up her speed, unexpectedly she feels her body slam into someone. She looks up and sees a guy standing in front if her, with a small grin on his face. "I am sorry." Then Del moves away and continues to walk,
"That's all? Just a sorry." Del turns to face the guy again, "Sorry but you're not a silver. I won't kiss your-" she stops mid sentence and looks at his worn out shoes that have holes in them. "-Shoes." The guy laughs and walks up to Del, "You seem to be in a rush, what can be so important in a red life." Del rolls her eyes, "I can be a silver." The guy chuckled and proceeds towards her ear to whisper, "A Silver wouldn't be apologizing to me. You would probably have killed me."
That is true. If I was a silver I would've reacted differently. An arrogant person I would be. I'm not a silver. I'm a good change.
"Are you thinking?" He quickly resumes the conversation. "No I'm not thinking, I apologize. I am just - nothing."
"Stop apologizing."
Del remains silent. All I know is to apologize.
"What's your name?"
"My name is Del - as in Delilah."
"My name is Kilorn. Kilorn Warren."
Del looks at Kilorn and grins. "Nice to meet you. But I really have to go."
Kilorn looks at her then at the sky, "We will never see each other again, but its good to meet new people. Goodbye."
Del hurries off but abruptly stops, "I'll assure you, that we will be seeing each other again."
