Millie's POV
It's ironic, how things turned out after the the doors of the bus opened. I'd have to tell you the whole story before you'd understand. I guess now's as good a time as any.

************
The doors bust open and tens of people piled in, surrounding me. They were a sea of black with flashes of red. They reached out, trying to pull me away. I fought the first few, slapping away their fists, but then more came. They were too much. If they wanted to, they could kill me. And they would have, without a second look. But they didn't. Why? I'm not sure. My guess is that their boss told them that they couldn't.

After discovering what they had in mind, death almost seemed better. Almost.

***********

I laughed bitterly, struggling against the ropes around me.

"Millie? Why are are laughing?" Bryan asked quietly. He sounded so afraid, so terrified. His sullen face looked over at me. The bruise across his cheek was now a dark blue with tints of vibrant purple.

"It's ironic." I laughed bitterly. "I was trying so hard to protect you all and now we're all going to die. All because of me. And here I was trying to save you." I laughed again. The sounded echoed off the walls, the only noise in the room. Then I heard the screeching of a chair scraping the floor.

"Millie!" Bryan yelled.

"Bryan!" I screamed.

I was left in silence for an eternity. Until I heard the click of a gun loading.

***********

The people had blindfolded me, wrapped me in rope, and put a gag in mouth. Someone grunted as they slung me over their shoulder. I was carried for a few minutes, hearing footsteps fade behind us. There were two pairs that kept up. They set their feet down hard and fast. They were big men and we were walking pretty fast. That's all I knew.

************

At some point, the car stopped and I was forced to get out. They dragged me by my ankles down a gravel path. Trust me, it hurt. A lot.

Then they tied me against what I assume was a chair. For a few moments the room was silent and I thought I was alone. Then I heard it. A cough. The only thing that gave me hope.

*************

"Take the blindfold off" someone grunted. Probably the same man who'd loaded the gun. After loading it, he'd walked closer. The blind fold was ripped off and I held back a cry. They'd shoved the blindfold on me when they'd dragged Bryan away. "Welcome" a man said. His face remained outside of the light. All I could see were a pair of fancy Italian shoes and dress pants. The light overhead blinded my eyes, which had grown used to the darkness.

"Who are you?" I croaked. My voice had finally returned, although it sounded as rough as sand paper. I was glad to hear it but there were more important things to deal with right now.

"I have more to tell you first." He said. "I am the same man who you found in the Cooper's house. I killed Michael Cooper, his wife, Sophia Cooper, and, I also have...." He paused snap his fingers. A light flashed on across the room. A man in a mask dragged in Ocean. She struggled against him but her movements were weak.

"No!" I screamed, but my voice sounded far off, like it was underwater. I watched everything in slow motion.

I saw the man's feet turn, his left foot then his right foot. He faced Ocean now.

"No" I screamed. Even my voice seemed slow. At the same time, I pushed forward with all my might. Something happened. The ropes broke. The chair fell forward, I fell to my knees. "Ocean" all of me screamed at once. I got up, stumbling. My head ached, my legs wobbled. I got two steps before I collapsed. I fell on my stomach.

Everything started spinning but I tried again, I pulled myself onto my knees. I reached forward, pushing myself up. I stumbled to my knees, trembling. Every cell of my body was screaming "quit!" But all I heard was "save". Save her. Save the girl who had it all and lost it. Who lost everything.

I tried again, I pushed myself to me feet but if felt like I was walking through knee high mud. I stumbled along. Six more steps. Five. I saw the shadow of the gun being raised. Tears were falling fast down Ocean's face. Four more steps. I had to get there. I had to. I had to save her. Three more steps. I stumbled. I lost my balance and fell. My head hit the floor hard. I looked up and saw the gun. I had three more steps and I would've saved her.

**************

The man dragged Ocean's body out of the room. Tears were blinding me and I was glad. I couldn't look at her anymore. But I saw it. I watched her last few seconds on earth. She bent her head down, accepting what was going to happen.

I was brought back to the chair and the man left. I guess he had said enough for now.
