Millie's POV

I lifted my head when I heard his laughter. The man that had killed Ocean now returned. He stood in front of me, just out of the light, so I could see his button down dress shirt but not his face. He slung his head back and laughed, but it sounded cold and warped.

"Do you wish you were dead? Do you wish it was you instead of her? Do you wish-?" His voice fell to a whisper. "Do you wish.... You could have saved her?" He stood in silence, letting his words seep in. Then he turned on his heel and left, leaving me to my silence.

I'd screamed for days on end but it didn't do much good. I didn't know for sure, but I'm assuming that my mom was here because Bryan was here. I wished she wasn't. I wanted so badly to save them. But how?

The second I thought those words, I had a plan. One that just might be crazy enough to work...

**************

I sat in my death chair,  waiting. I couldn't tell what time or day it was, but I knew no one had came in in a while, which made me wonder if they were sleeping. I strained my ears while tiling my head forward, so it appeared as if I was sleeping.

It felt like an eternity until a heard something-- a metallic bang-- that let me know my plan could be set into action.

Suddenly, I jerked me head up." Help" I yelled, followed by a scream. Half a minute later, I was at it again.

Help" I gasped, "help". I shook violently and terribly. I coughed as if I were choking, and I swung back and forth, shaking as I did. Then my head fell, hitting my chest as my body went still.

I sat there, in silence again, hoping that someone heard that. I heard the screech of the door opening and the footsteps as a few people walked in.

"What happened?" One voice asked.

"Don't know" said another. Someone sighed, loud and long.

"Alright, let's take her" someone mumbled. I felt the ropes shivering around me. I kept my eyes shut, but I assume that someone was sawing at the ropes.

As the ropes began to break, I channeled all my rage. They'd captured Bryan, my little brother! They'd tied him to a chair and who knew whether or not he was alive! Not to mention my mom. She'd cared for me ever since I was little and now she was going to be, or might have already been, yanked away from me. And finally Ocean. She was innocent and everyone knew it. She hadn't committed the crime, she hadn't drawn the gun. And yet she had to pay the price.

As soon as the ropes fell, I was on my feet, grabbing at someone's throat.

************

I raced down the hallway, slipping the mask over my face. I walked up to another guy in black and stood next to him, my heart pounding in my ears.

This is insane.

Yeah, it might be. But it's the only way to save the people I care about.
