❝GOOD PEOPLE ARE THE FIRST ONES TO DIE. ❞
"I'll wait for you in my mom's car." Nick said, his fingers entwining in her hair and pushing a small mesh behind her ear. They stood outside Allison's house, the warm spring weather evading their senses. It was a beautiful day, despite the past events, and Allison felt somewhat hopeful. After talking to Madison for what felt like an eternity, Nick had managed to persuade her into going to the Hospital first, get Eve and then leave. Allison couldn't be more thankful and relieved.
She owes it all to Nick.
With a small nod of her head, she watched as he limped toward Madison's black car, glancing back at her, over his shoulder. She was hit with a small wave of Nostalgia as she wandered around her house, mesmerizing every corner, every room, and every picture on the wall for the last time. Allison grabbed a small bag from her wardrobe, filling it with clothes and essentials for the trip. The pastel lilac of the walls were soothing down her anxiety as she rushed back and forth between her drawers and bag. The mere thought of being able to hug, touch and kiss her mom again was driving her insane, for time seemed to slow down instead of quickening its pace.
She walked down the corridor, her eyes fixed straight ahead as she passed her parents' room, not once daring to look inside. She walked out the house, sighing as the door slammed shut behind her. She was leaving a part of her life behind and starting a new one. The Clark's driveway got closer and closer as she walked, meeting Ofelia's eyes on the window briefly.
"Alicia!" Called Travis, followed by a horn from Madison's car. "C'mon, we're going!" The door opened to her side, Alicia strolling down the front steps slowly. She gave Travis an annoyed look telling him she had heard him, and giving him the excuse that she was peeing. Typical Alicia, thought Allison, giving her a small smile.
She followed behind the youngest Clark toward Madison's car, hopping on the back with Nick as Alicia hopped on the front. "You alright?" Came Nick's voice.
"Yeah." She lied.
Truth was, she felt terrible. The previous hopefulness in her heart had melted away as realization finally hit her. She was leaving. Not only that but, she was still mourning over her father's death, which had been both traumatizing and really sudden. But Nick could see right through her words, giving her a concerned look.
The sound of helicopters passing by caused all eyes to snap at the sky, watching as they hovered away. Travis reversed out of the driveway, Liza and Chris were both on his truck. Gladys' inflatable was still on the yard, though it no longer had air and was covered in splashes of blood. Allison looked away, incapable of imagine her dad being the cause of it. Madison's house got further and further away as they drove in silence, Nick's left hand resting soothingly on her thigh.
"Patrick!"
Allison's head snapped briefly at Madison and then out her window: Patrick Tran was walking down the street with his black luggage following behind him. Her eyes widened as she thought back to his wife, Susan, and she felt compassion for him. Mr. Tran had always been kind with her family, she didn't want him to go through that kind of pain.
"Patrick!" Madison called again. "Wait!"
The old Asian man didn't seem to hear her desperate calls, for he was already entering through the back of his house. "No, no, no." Mumbled Madison in frustration, not following behind Travis' white truck anymore and driving toward Patrick's house.
Nick's hand left her skin in a haste and he opened the door of the now parked car. Everyone hopped out, Madison leading the way as she jogged ahead of the youngsters. Allison glanced back as she ran, Travis was parking his truck next to Madison's car, glancing at them in confusion.
