Ellie woke up in start as she heard alarms ringing out from her apartment. She got and almost tripped over her blankets as she ran out the door. When she went outside, the noise was ten times worse, and it was coming from the kitchen. God she was starting to get headache where was it coming from? She looked around on her left and right and saw there wasn't a fire. What was it then? Then she realized it was the temptor. She ran towards the device, and the alarm was even worse. She could see Tessa in a spare set of pjs running around the kitchen with her tools trying in vain to shut it off.
"What is wrong?" Ellie growled.
"I don't know!" Tessa shouted over the noise.
"Well shut if off!" Ellie yelled.
Tessa started pressing buttons and poking the temptor like it was on fire. Who knows with this rate it might catch on fire for all she knew. Then for one moment of reprieve the noise stopped. Ellie let out a sigh of relief, though she wasn't sure what she would hear from her neighbors. Ms. Calvarez would burn her ass and roll it up in a fajita. Then Ellie saw the screen of the temptor light up, and Tessa made giddy noises of excitement. The screen projected onto the ceiling and Ellie saw the words on the screen were...
"Next travel update: 38.907192, -77.036871 October 15th 2015" Tessa read out loud.
"That's Friday. And wait what does that mean?" Ellie asked.
"It's the next time there will be activity within the dimensional linings. If I could find the point of entrance I could harvest the resounding energy and charge up my temptor. I could go home" Tessa explained.
"But you can't go! We got invited to Lauren Dafne's party..."
"We, don't you mean you" Tessa argued. "Just because I'm living with you doesn't mean were a package deal. Besides what's more important me going home, or some trashy collegial party?"
"You can't spend all week working on that thing. You can't have fun for once Tess please you can't just do one thing..."
"I went out with you and your friends last night? Were you not there or something?"
"Oh I was there, you looked like you hated every minute of it" Ellie told her. Ellie sighed she was still so tired and she couldn't handle Tessa's crap right now. "If you want to leave so badly just go I have a paper to write and other crap to do. If you come back you come back if not I don't care, just take your stuff and go."
Tessa frowned, and Ellie saw she grabbed a plastic bag and started placing her tools and everything in the bag. Ellie realized that was the only thing Tessa had besides the clothes she had worn. Tessa went out the door and once she did the silence was almost stifling. She didn't want to think about that. Ellie went and realized the table was clear. So she walked over to the cabinet and grabbed her purple mug. She made herself a cup of coffee and had a bagel for breakfast.
Then she took a shower and got changed into sweats and a t-shirt. After a vain attempt to brush her hair, she turned on her computer and pulled up her paper. She grabbed some of her books she checked out and started reading. The first one she grabbed was, Women in Early America: Struggle, Survival and Freedom in a New World by Dorothy A. Mays. She had read it before, now she was skimming it so she could get enough info for her paper. After ten minutes of reading she got some stuff for the next page.
Ellie decided to grab her iPad and pulled up Netflix. She started watching TV as she was typing and reading. The coffee gave her the energy she needed to get this done. She worked on it for about a half hour, then she checked her phone. She saw Mar texted her twenty minutes ago. "Just saw Tessa walk out of the house everything okay?" Ellie sighed and ignored the text and just focused working on her paper.
