XXIV.
"Come on, lets go." Eli said casually as he shook his pressed hair out of his eyes, leaving them tousled. I gave him a nod and silently followed behind him, bumping into his back as he abruptly stopped to scan the café's bathroom before leaving.
He snapped his head towards my direction and if I didn't know better, I'd think it was whip lash.
"No need to get too jittery." I said with a laugh.
He took a long gaze at my carefree and somewhat oblivious expression before speaking,
"Sorry. You just never know." He quickly said before slipping out the door, the speed nearly slamming my nose in. 'Still jittery...' I mumbled in my mind as I gripped the handle to swing it open.
It emerged outward a with such force that I was seconds from falling, before Eli's arms caught me.
"What's taking you so long?" He complained, as he briskly lifted me back up, not sparing me another glance before speeding towards the register.
"I was just about to- you know what? Never mind." I said defeated. What is his deal? Why's he so...A.S.A.W? And yes, I just made that up. But it's true! He is being awkwardly strange and weird. It's making me uncomfortable.
I just sighed as I silently followed him like a list puppy. I think about Elijah's actions all the time, but my thoughts really do help with nothing when it comes to explaining that boy. That- and not with decisions, options, plans, or just plain thinking in general. I'm pretty much next to useless.
"Hello~ Earth to Sienna." Elijah sang as he waved his hands in front of my face.
"Huh? What?" I said in confusion before focusing in on my surroundings, which was him and his handsome face.
Oh god what am I thinking?
"I asked which you want." He replied, pointing to the doughnuts on display, "Pick a drink too. You must be thirsty from that five minute run... Since you're unfit." He looked up at the board behind the cashier as I punched his shoulder.
"I am not 'unfit'!" I exclaimed as I looked at the pastries ahead. They all looked delectable, hence making my decision impossible. Like I said, my thoughts are useless.
"Can I help you pick?" a lady with curly blonde hair and cheery eyes asked. She wore the mint and white uniform behind the register, her rectangular name tag reading 'Hayley'.
"Sure. Why not?" I replied as I waited for her suggestion.
"Well powdered jelly doughnuts with black coffee seem to be popular nowadays..." She said cautiously as if I wouldn't approve.
"I'll take just that then!" I pipped, "but milked coffee's fine."
"Coming right up!" She sang as she clicked on her register and tallied up a price.
I turned on my heel and waltzed towards the tables before my restrained hood nearly chocked me to death.
"Where're you going?" Eli asked, slowly letting go of the dark hood once he realized he's inside a confined area and looking like he's trying to choke me out wont win him any brownie points.
"To get seats..." I said slowly as I pulled his hoodie's collar out, allowing my neck to breath again.
"Is that a problem Mr. Jitters?" I asked, putting on my best investigator voice as I placed my hands on my hips,
"Nah. No prob at all doc." He replied back as I laughed.
"Doc? I was being an investigator!" I giggled as he paid the cashier,
