Stiles drove to a restaurant. It was now raining outside. He sat at a corner table and he recalled  his conversation with Lydia.

He had screwed up so badly he couldn't even believe it.

The truth is that he was always kind of mad at Lydia. Somtimes she would look at him like she recognized  him and then she would go and kiss her boyfriend or somehting.

Her boyfriend was Jackson. He was an athlete, with amazing hair and blue eyes. Of course he was Lydia's boyfriend.

Then Stiles saw something that pulled him out of his thoughts. It was Lydia. She was walking in the rain, some boys behind her. She seemed pissed off. One of them touched her shoulder and she moved faster. Then another one grabbed her arm and forced her to look at him. She said something and he said something and then he violently pulled her closer. She tried to leave but he kissed her.

The others cheered.

Stiles got up and walked out in the rain. He was running, trying to get to her, to help her.

The boys didn't notice him as he walked passed them and standed in front of the guy kissing Lydia.

It all happened in seconds and Stiles' hand found the boy's face. He pulled away surprised. He was ready to attack but Stiles was faster. He punched the guy again, with all his power. The guy fell down and then his group woke up. They all attacked Stiles at the same time. He just punched and kicked knot knowing who he was hitting.

And then a car appeared. It was the police. The group ran away fast, like cowards. The car didn't stop but the boys left anyway. They had done something and they avoided the cops. Drugs probably.

Stiles turned to look at Lydia. She seemed frozen. Scared and surprized and confused.

Stiles' mouth was bleeding.

-Come on, the boy said.

He headed to the restaurant and Lydia followed.

They got in and sat where Stiles was sitting just some minutes before.

Stiles swept the blood away and she looked at the girl.

She was staring at him a bit confused. Like he wasn't Stiles, the boy that shouted at her in the car.

-I am so sorry Stiles.

-You didn't do anything. ,he smiled.

She smiles back but she was sad.

-Lydia, did you even know those boys?

Lydia blushed.

-No.

It was a whisper and Stiles almost didn't catch it. Almost.

-What were you doing there? You said you'd go home. ,Stiles asked.

-I did. I was going home when the boys found me. I turned around and went the other way. I didn't really know where I was going and then I was here. I saw the restaurant but he kissed me and... and you saw. ,Lydia answered.

Stiles looked at her. He was watching her for years. Since the third grade. And yet he didn't really know her. He always paid attention at everything she did but most of it was just an act.

-I'm sorry ,she repeated.

-Lydia I don't blaim you, okay? Just forget it.

She looked like she was going to say something but a waitress stopped at their table.

-Have you ordered?

The waitress was tall and thin and blonde and completely ignored Lydia. Stiles hid his smile.

-Ugh... nope, not yet. Can you ugh... come just a little bit later..?

The waitress smiled.

-Of course. , she replied happily and left.

Stiles looked at Lydia and she raised her eyebrows.

-She is so into you.

Stiles blushed. Like he cared.

-So?

-So?! Are you kidding? Ask her out.

She shrugged like she didn't care but her eyes were serious. She didn't care, did she?

-Ugh.. no thanks.

-Why not?

Her face was serious, no smile, no raised eyebrows, no smirk.

-I'm just saving myself for someone else. ,Stiles answered just as serious.

He wished time could stop right there. He wished that he could stare at her forever. Because he was Stiles after all and that's what he did. He stared at her. And there was nothing, nothing, that could ever change that. He would always love her the same.

She blushed and looked down.

Stiles cracked a smile.

-So, he said, what do you want to eat?

She looked up at him and smiled back.

.......

They were leaving when the waitress talked to Stiles again.

-You're leaving so early. Can't you stay a little bit longer?

God, that girl was brave if you considered she was talking to a stranger.

-Sorry. I have to go.

Stiles hoped he wasn't as red as he felt.

But it seemed Lydia was just as brave.

-Sorry but I'm his girlfriend and I would really appreciate it if you could back off.

Stiles looked at her speechless. She closed an eye and casually put her arm around his waist.

The waitress looked a bit confused and then she said something Stiles didn't catch and walked away looking at the floor.

Stiles put his arm around Lydia too, and squeezed.

-Where could I ever find a girl like you? ,he smiled, with the one corner of his mouth.

-Right here. ,she answered.

And they got out.
