The school passed quickly and Stiles was walking with Scott and Malia.
-So, I am supposed to meet Lydia. We have to go to the police station. ,Stiles said.
-Do you really have to go? She'll be fine. ,Scott commented.
-Yeah. ,Malia added.
Stiles looked at both of them .
-Yes, I have to go. See you guys later.
And his ran down the hallway. Lydia was at the parking already. She was standing next to his jeep.
He walked to her.
-Ready?, she asked when he reached her.
Stiles almost laughed. She was the one that had been 'stepped on' by this dude and she was asking him if he was ready?
-Hell yeah, Stiles said as he got in the car.
They drove half an hour until they got there. Stiles opened her door and helped her out.
She took her hand and squeezed it.
.....
They waited a while but finally, Sheriff appeared.
-Sorry for the waiting , ms.Martin. Son.
-Dad! ,Stiles got up, You missed me?!
Sheriff shook her head and turned around.
-Follow me! ,he yelled over his shoulder.
Lydia got up and did what he said.
They headed to a small room. Stiles looked pretty comfortable so Lydia assumed it was Sheriff's office. The boy sat on a chair behind an office.
-Stiles, this is my chair. What are you doing?
Stiles smirked.
-Come on dad, we can share it!
Sheriff and Lydia shared a glance and the girl smiled weakly. It was time to learn. She waited in anticipation. She could feel Stiles' eyes on her, as she sat down.
-Lydia. This might surprise you a bit, but the guy came here on his own. I assumed you should know that.
Lydia's chest was tight. He came on his own. Why would he do this? Who would do this?
Then there was knock on the door and a deputy came in. Behind him was a young man.
Jackson.
He looked tired. He looked weak. His legs were shaking and his blue eyes were glassy.
Lydia was speechless. It was an accident, she knew, but why would Jackson leave her there? Her ex boyfriend. The guy that she once thought was the one. The guy that she once trusted. Loved, even. His eyes were sad on hers and Lydia probably looked devastated
-Why?
It was a burning question, the only one that mattered right now.
-I panicked.
It was the only thing he said and it wasn't satisfying. At all.
Lydia felt tears streaming down her face.
She got up . She felt everyone's eyes on her. God, she used to love the attention.
She left the room. Just like that, not making eye contact with anybody.
All this time Stiles.was focused on her. Her reaction, her face, her eyes. She looked so hurt, so betrayed. And then she just got up and left, leaving Stiles surprised and feeling numb.
He hesitantly looked at his dad. He nodded, giving him permission to follow his girlfriend.
He got out of the office, not giving Jackson a second look. He wasn't sure what he felt about him anyway.
He searched the room with his eyes but Lydia wasn't there.
-She is outside, said a deputy.
Stiles frowned.
-You're looking for Lydia Martin, aren't you? She is outside.
Stiles nodded and ran. He got out of the police station and ,indeed, Lydia was there. She was sobbing quietly .
He reached her and put his arm around her. She rested her head on his shoulder.
-He promised me once ,Lydia said between her sobs, that he would never leave me. And look at us now.
Stiles kissed her forhead softly.
-You don't need him Lyds.
-I know. But he was a part of my life for so long. He was part of the old me. He was the only reason I smiles back then. Truly smiled.
Stiles felt a hint of jealously but he ignored it.
-All this is broken now. My old life is broken. My smiles are broken. He left me bleeding on the streets.
-Your smiles are not broken Lydia. They're beautiful. They're worth fighting for and if he didn't know that... I do.
She looked at Stiles. His eyes had that warm colour that could get you to open up, tell him everything.
She smiled.
