Chapter 25. The Right Time

"So Brian and Anna were the owners of the resort?" Alex confirmed once I told him when we're on our way to Phil's house.

"Yeah, surprising isn't it?" I said.

"Hm," he agreed. "I knew there was something strange about them."

Another round of silence. Nobody spoke until we made it inside the house.

How I missed this place! And Phil – I miss Phil. And my mom and my dad. My friends back home, as well. I missed them all! I only have Alex here. I wondered if he thought about them too. Psh, silly, of course, he did! What kind of question was that?

"So I have this question that kept bugging me ever since I saw that red mark on your cheek," he started when he dropped his body beside me on the couch. Guess he's tired. He checked my cheek once again.

He was holding my face and tilting it to his direction. "What?" I asked letting him.

"I would've thought you'd fight back, knowing you being so warfreak, you wouldn't let anyone hurt you without getting even," he said letting go of my face.

"She's a guest," I said shortly.

He scoffed. "Would that really stop you?"

"Yeah, if it means I'll keep my job," I said.

"That's how important the job is to you? She hurt you," he asked.

"No..." I said and looked at him. I found him looking at me intently. "That's how I value how you wanted to get a job."

He stared at me for a while. "Really?" he asked as if not believing me.

I rolled my eyes. "If you don't believe me, then fine!"

"You can't blame me. I know you. You're incapable of thinking rationally when you're angry," he said. He has a point. "So, while you're at it, were you jealous of Fretzie then?"

"What?" I asked moving away from him. Did he guess that I was jealous of that wench?

"You sounded jealous when you told her to stop clinging at me," he stated. Did I? I was just annoyed!

"Was I that obvious?" I couldn't help but ask.

He only smiled and messed my hair. "How you drive me crazy," he whispered. What's that supposed to mean?

I couldn't breathe when he said that. I really had a hard time getting oxygen somewhere. Before this leads to asphyxia, I removed his hands. "You're so weird," I said and left him to prepare dinner take-out we bought on our way home. I heard him chuckle to himself.

"Will you ever tell me the reason why we left?" I asked out loud.

It took him moments to answer. "Yeah, but can we not talk about it tonight? I promise I'd tell you but not now."

His expression was telling me he's serious about it. "Of course, if that's what you want," I smiled assuring him it's fine. I didn't want to pry anyway.

SUMMER GREAT ESCAPE

We stared at the bed in front of us. We're back to this bed problem again. So, did this mean, we have to sleep together again? After all that's happened in the resort? I didn't think it will be the same again. Wouldn't this be awkward?

As if answering my thoughts, he spoke. "I'll sleep downstairs," he offered noticing how I was contemplating what to do in this bed.

"Uhh, no, it's okay. We can share it, we've shared this bed before right? I mean, I trust you," I said.
