Lily's POV

I woke up at 5AM, my heart pounding. I was going on a date! With James Potter! AAAGH!!!

I decided that it would be best to eat breakfast early with Alice and Marlene and then have several hours to get ready, so I dragged myself out the door, still in my pajamas, to go wake Alice and Marlene up. I was barely out the door when I heard a voice behind me.

"Up so early, Lily?" it called.

I turned around. It was James, obviously. I would be able to recognize that voice anywhere. Regardless, he was up at 5AM too! I wanted to scream, either out of surprise or excitement that he was just as nervous as I was, but then I realized that that would make me the equivalent of a third year. So, instead, I hurried out the door with as much grace as I could muster. I didn't stop running until I reached the portrait of the Fat Lady on the seventh floor. "Flibbertigibbet," I told her, and she yawned grumpily as the door swung open.

I dashed up the stairs to find Alice and Marlene already awake, talking in hushed voices. They stopped instantly as I walked in. I rolled my eyes. "What are you plotting now?"

"Um..."

"Something to do with me and James, obviously," I stated.

Alice blushed. "Well, no actually...." she trailed off.

"Frank?" I teased. Alice had had a crush on him since second year, and he was spoken of almost as often as we usually spoke about James. James.....

"EARTH TO LILY!" Marlene screamed at hit me with a pillow. "Damn, you've got it bad. Staring off into space with a dumb look on your face. You're supposed to at least go on a date before that happens."

Alice blushed at the word 'date'. "Guess who finally asked me to Hogsmeade?"

"Frank?" I repeated stupidly.

"YESYESYES FINALLLLLLYYYYYYYYY!!" She squealed.

"Wow, Alice, that's great!" I gave her a genuine smile, even though I was so concerned about later. "How about we celebrate with a nice big breakfast?! Lots of doughnuts!"

"You bet," said Marlene. "For the first time ever, all of us have dates to Hogsmeade."

"Pookie just gave me a whole bunch extra," Marlene said, walking in to where we were seated in the Great Hall. She carried with her a giant plate of extra breakfast foods. At that moment, Sirius, Peter, and Remus came into the Great Hall. What they were doing up so early, I had no idea. SIrius swooped down from behind her and took nearly everything off of the giant platter.

"More for me! Thanks, babe!" he smiled and sat across from us.

"SIRIUSLY ANNOYING BLACK YOU WILL GIVE THAT BACK THIS INSTANT!" Alice yelled in a very accurate McGonagall impression. 

"Nope," he rolled his eyes and smiled. 

"Give it back, Siri-Poo!" Marlene whined.

"Nope," he repeated. "And don't you EVER call me that."
