Present TenTen's POV
We were lead into a room where all the teams were allowed to train together. It was nothing but a dojo. Though the rules were pretty straightforward. No hitting each other in the training room and only hit the wooden material in front of you. That was it. You could use any type of Jutsu just as long as you follow the rules. There was also a spar mode on the wooden material that would shape into a human and form a battle with you.
There were different types of spar modes. Mirror, Combat, and Jutsu. Mirror is copying your style of movement and fighting skills. It was basically fighting a wooden puppet of yourself. Combat mode is fighting so fists and no Jutsus at all. Except for Rock Lee who used Taijutsu. And Jutsu mode was mostly for the prodigies. The wooden puppets would use some sort of wood-style Jutsu and had a scale of 1-10 on how hard you wanted the fight.
Once all of the Genin had come except for two teams that were killed, then we were able to start the prelims. Everyone waited on the battlefield while the screen on top started to switch names on seeing who would fight who.
TenTen vs Neji
"W-What?! This has to be some sort of malfunction!" Neji exclaimed. Iruka shook his head. "I'm sorry. But we checked the system for any bugs or glitches. Nothing," Iruka responded as everyone moved to the top of the arena while the two were fighting on the bottom. My eyes widened. I remembered this so vividly.
"You know the rules. Now Fight!" Iruka said as a loud gong rung in my ears. Neji activated "Byakugan" and was in a gentle fist stance. "I won't go easy on you this time, TenTen-Chan," Neji said with a smirk on his face. TenTen furrowed her eyebrows and took out a scroll that had summoned a spear. "I won't either. We both want to be Chūnin, Hyūga Prodigy," TenTen said confidently and had a spear in her hand and directly aimed it at Neji. But clearly, he dodged it quickly even though TenTen had 100% accuracy.
TenTen quickly summoned a bow and arrow with about 10 arrows strapped to her back. But when she put the scroll away as her weapons lasted, Neji was already in front of her and hit her with the gentle fist. Since TenTen didn't know how to use it, she fell to the ground. Weakly, she got up and shot her arrows at Neji. None of them worked since he caught up with the rotation of arrows and dodged every single one of them. Once the weapons were fired, the bow and arrows disappeared.
TenTen grit her teeth and took out two Kunai from her bag.
I may not know how to use gentle fist, but I can possibly copy the style.
TenTen stuck out her Kunai like claws. She copied one of Neji's gentle fist stances and attacked first. "TenTen-Chan your not supposed to get that close to Neji-Kun when he has gentle fist!" Rock Lee yelled. TenTen grit her teeth. "Shut it Lee-Kun!" TenTen yelled and started to mirror Neji.
She kept it up for a good amount of time. Enough for her to throw her weapons at him. Right after mirroring, she quickly jumped backwards and aimed her Kunais at Neji. But there was fog after she just did. TenTen couldn't see a thing. But the last thing she saw was the Kunai on chakra strings before she was pinned to a wall by her clothes.
She looked like a paper proxy doll. At this rate, she couldn't move and reach her scrolls. Neji was walking up to her in a gentle fist pose. But now, he was about to attack her while she was vulnerable. TenTen struggled and used her strength to rip off her left sleeve with a gasping wound left from the Kunai. She took out the right one and pointed both at Neji's neck.
But he didn't even worry about it. Neji attacked her with gentle fist causing her to crash on the wall again. TenTen grit her teeth and took out two scrolls identical to each other. Weakly, she got up and unrolled the two scrolls. They soon flew up in the air in a certain pattern. TenTen flew up into the air with them tapping each symbol as a weapon came out.
I sent them out flying controlling them by chakra strings. Neji protected himself in some light blue orb made out of chakra that deflected the weapons. But it was Neji's purpose to do that. The deflected weapons came flying at TenTen now that she was still in the air. It got onto her skin and pinned her to the ceiling. Neji's eyes widened. He saw that TenTen's eyes were snapped shut as blood was dripping all the way from the ceiling. Neji dropped the weapons off and caught TenTen in his arms. "I'm sorry, TenTen-Chan," Neji said softly whispering in her ear.
What have I done?! Neji thought.
He bit his lip and sent TenTen to the medical-nin in the arena. He silently prayed to Kami that she would still be alive and breathing. He went down in the battlefield when Neji's arm was held up by Iruka. "The winner is, Neji-San," Iruka said. Though Rock Lee and Guy cheered, Neji wasn't happy. As soon as Neji was in the crowd of Shinobi, he found the place where TenTen was being treated.
"Is she okay?" Neji asked the medical-nin. She nodded as TenTen was sitting on a hospital-like bed and waved weakly. My eyes widened as I put my head down. "I'm sorry, TenTen-Chan. I didn't mean to try and kill you. Now team Guy can't all be Chūnin," I said. TenTen was still able to laugh weakly.
"I don't care about that, Neji-Kun! Gēnin, Chūnin, Jōnin, if doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm still alive. Right Neji-Kun?" TenTen croaked. Neji lifted up his head and nodded. "Gomen TenTen-Chan. It must have caused you a lot of pain," Neji said and de-activated his Byakugan now that he already won the match.
"So Neji-San was trying to kill his own teammate?" I heard a guy from the Sand Village say as they watched the spar between Kiba and Naruto. "Yeah looks like it. He knocked her out with just with a few hits. Man...," a guy from the Sand Village said sounding impressed yet disappointed. "Also, the fact that she was a girl makes it even worse. He even tried to kill her," a girl said from the same team as the two guys.
"Yeah. It would be awesome if the Uchiha Prodigy and the Hyūga Prodigy fought!" A girl from the Leaf Village said talking to her Village. "I heard that they fought once and Neji-San lost!" A girl exclaimed. "Neji-Kun is cute...," I heard Ino say. Neji's eyes widened and looked at the crowd of girls mumbling about Neji.
"Do you think you can stand? TenTen-Chan?" Neji asked her. "I-I think so..," she mumbled and forced herself to get up. But she was trembling weakly. I was at her side incase she fell. Instantly, she almost fell but I was able to catch her.
"Arigato Neji-Kun," TenTen said with a smile on her face. Neji nodded silently and put her on top of the hospital-like bed. "Maybe you should rest first. You can't even stand," Neji told her. TenTen nodded. "Thanks for going easy on me," TenTen smiled. Neji's eyes widened.
How did she know? Neji thought.
"I wasn't, Kunoichi," I told her. TenTen laughed but started coughing so she got a glass of water from her bedside. "I'm sure you were," TenTen said with a weak smile on her face. I looked at the battlefield to see who was fighting who after Naruto had won against Kiba.
