Happy Halloversary

Happy Halloversary
Walking in the sidewalk, the night was chill and breezy. My skin was creating goosebumps from the fall weather but I love it. "Where are we going, Simon?" I asked my husband of 12 years since I was blindfolded for whatever he's planning for tonight.

"I told you that it's a surprise, Vicky. We're here anyway" he responded as he continued to pull my arm. I yelp in happiness, jumping for effect but he puts his arms on my shoulder to calm me down.

"You are so impatient my love" he whispered and then pulled the cloth from my eyes. Twinkling lights on the ceiling, scary and smiling pumpkins surrounded the floor, spiderwebs top and bottom with fake spiders and a table filled with an array of foods. My mouth gaping of shock and surprise, tears welling from my eyes. "Happy halloversary baby" he kissed my warm cheek.

"Simon, this is all beautiful" the water streaming from my face.

"I always told you that our day will be special. Even though our first date was on halloween" he chuckled lightly, turned to face me and a frown was replaced. "Sweetie don't cry? Its not good"

"What? Hon I love this so much. These are excited tears" I wiped my face, he helped me and then brushed my hair behind my ears. Muttered 'I love you' and kissed me quickly, told him 'I love you too'.

Our first date was on halloween, we've been dating for the last two weeks of october when we met first at a Target. Instead of us going to a masquerade party, he made me dinner. My favorite part of that night was this chocolate and orange and green pumpkin cake he made. It was messy but I loved it, filled with gummy worms and candy scarabs.

Since we got married, we always celebrate our anniversary with a halloween theme date.

Our meal was done and we were so full. "This was so great, thank you so much" I rubbed my belly in appreciation, Simon smiled slowly at me, his brown eyes looking longing at my brown eyes as well.

He always takes my breath away: strong jawline, wavy brown hair, broad shoulders. He stood up and pulled out a small box from the back of his pants. "For you" he handed it to me and I grinned widely. I reached for my purse and pulled out my gift for him.

"Happy halloversary" I gave him a small box as well. I opened mine and it reveals a spider jeweled charm. Smiling warmly, it's great to add to the eleven other charms on my bracelet. I see him holding his: a gold watch with a black wristband. Instead of saying anything, he grabbed the back of my neck and kissed me deeply, I kissed back with the same passion.

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, and I have my best friend and lover to share it with.
