Emily:

I took the note from Will, shaking as I read his messy handwriting that I once knew.

Dear Emily,

First of all, I want you to know this is all your fault. I loved you. Many people don't know what love truly is, I would like you to understand. Love is when you trust someone, you trust that they won't take advantage of you, but more importantly, you trust that they won't cheat in any way. Love is something that either develops over time, or you know right away. I did not know right away, but eventually the feeling grew stronger and I knew. A lot of people think that, when you begin a relationship with someone, you love them. That is not always true. I will be dead because of you, and by the time you know, I am dead because of you. You knew my secrets, you knew about the blades and pills. I began to trust you...I began to love you. You broke my heart, and I must return the favor. Goodbye, Emily Serola. Have fun with Will.

I sat there, too stunned to move. Eventually I realized that Will was asking me a question. I didn't hear what he said. I broke from his grasp and ran until I was at the far side of town.

Will:

I watched her eyes as she read the note, thinking, knowing, she would probably never speak to me again. When she finished, she sat there, unmoving, until about the third time I asked the question, "are you ok?" She didn't answer, instead, she broke away and ran. So naturally, I followed. I didn't see her, and eventually went back to the tree-house to let her be alone. She needed to gather her thoughts, and I needed to let her be.

Emily:

After around 5 minutes of catching my breath, I realized where I was. The note still clasped tightly in my hand, I put it into the bottom of my shoe, so I wouldn't lose it. Then I saw him. A tall man, around 20 years of age, staring at me with a disgusting smirk plastered on his face. "Hey doll." He said. "My name's Acorn." That's when I began to run.

I couldn't go very far considering I had just ran all the way across town not 10 minutes earlier. He was chasing me and I was running for my life. I needed to stop. I found an old barn and tried to hide. I had failed to hide well enough as he stepped through the door, with the same smirk on his face.

"Why are you running, doll?" Acorn asked, holding a sharp knife at his side.
