I ran upstairs as fast as I could. My heart was thumping in my chest, faster than a hummingbird's wings. As I got to our bedroom door I stopped in my tracks, was she really alive again? Had I sold my soul, my voice for nothing? What if she was different; not my Christine. I tried to swallow the lump in my throat as my clammy hand moves towards the doorknob.
"It's now or never."
I muttered to myself before opening the door.
The sight before my eyes was one of the most beautiful I had ever seen. Christine was standing at the vanity, combing her hair. I sighed quietly to myself. She must've heard me, because she turned to me and grinned from ear to ear.
"Erik!"
Her voice was the same, but she looked more beautiful somehow; if that was even possible.
"Christine."
I breathed and moved toward her carefully, hesitant. I was still unsure of her. Had he done something to her?
She giggled and threw herself in my arms.
"I had the most awful dream."
She murmured into my neck, squeezing me.
"It's over now, I'm here angel."
I smiled and stroked her hair. No, she was still my Christine; my angel.
"I love you."
I mumbled and kissed her softly. She tasted the same, thank god. If her lips were not the sweet taste I had come to know, I don't think I'd be able to bare it.
She kissed me back softly and curled her fingers into my jacket. It had only been a day, yet it had felt like years. I knew now, that I truly needed her in my life. She was my true love.
"Are you hungry? Thirsty? What can I do for you mon amour?"
I cooed and stroked her cheek.
"I'm a bit hungry."
"Alright, I'll make you your favorite pancakes."
"I love when you cook, the way you hum, and sing as you do so...It's my favorite."
I freeze up. I could no longer do that.
"Erik? What's the matter?"
