Shards to the Heart: A Ghost Adventures Fanfic

The News (Short)

Zak paced back and forth as his called Emma for the tenth time. They had to leave for an investigation soon and Emma wasn't at HQ yet. Zak was surprised when Emma's father answered the phone. "Hello?," her father said.
"Uh hi it's me Zak," Zak said. "We were just wondering where Emma is. We have to leave for an investigation soon and-" he cut himself off as he heard Emma's mother sobbing in the background.
"Um yeah, about that," Emma's father said. "Emma. . .will no longer be joining you." Zak's eyes widened.
"W-What do you mean what's wrong?"
"Hey Zak!," Aaron called from the other room. "You might want to come see this." Still holding the phone up to his ear, Zak turned and raced into the next room. The News was on the T.V., and a picture of Emma was on the screen.
"Emma Collins, a young member of the Ghost Adventures crew, mysteriously vanished last night. Her parents heard her screaming upstairs, but when they reached their daughter's bedroom, she was gone. There's no trace of her." Overcome with shock, Zak dropped his phone, his mouth gaping. "This tape was found sitting on her desk. It was labeled 'Shamed' and these images were found." Suddenly, pictures of Emma, bloody and screaming, appeared on the T.V. screen.
Suddenly, Zak felt sick. He fell against Aaron, fighting for balance. "W-What was that?," Zak asked, staring at the T.V. screen, which Nick had now turned off. "Who would do that to a fourteen year old, then just disappear with her?" Aaron shook his head.
"I don't know," Aaron said, "but we need to go."
"What, b-but Emma," Zak stuttered.
Aaron sighed as he pulled Zak out of the room. "She's not coming with us anymore Zak." Aaron threw Zak into the back of the van, then got up front with Nick. Zak felt tears slide down his cheeks as he viewed the empty space across from him, where Emma would usually be.
