I had no idea as to how long I had been in that room. Ward had left me for the briefing he had to attend and I was now on my own. Looking around the room, I saw that there were two security cameras, they were obviously watching me. I got up from the chair and laid down on the bed, trying to think everything through. Should I have come here? Was it even safe?

The door opened and in walked Ward. He pulled the chair up to the bed, sitting down. I waited for him to speak, wanting to know if he had any information.

"We've decided that it's best for you to stay with us." Ward started. He pulled up information on his tablet, facing it towards me."This is the man who attacked you. He works for our enemy, HYDRA. They are highly dangerous so you must do everything that we say."

"So..so where are you taking me?" I asked.

"Somewhere safe, don't worry."

"Most of this information is going to be confidential, isn't it?"

"Yes, I'm sorry. But you will have an actual room, you won't be locked up in a cell."

"Well, that's something I guess."

                   *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

My new home (or should I say shelter) looked like an old air base but it was underground. Everyone scanned their ID passes as they went inside. Before Ward went through, he passed me a card. It had my picture and name on it.

"Here, you're going to need this. It'll get you into the main rooms, always have it on you." He told me as he handed it to me.

I placed the card on the scanner, making the red light switch to green, followed by a beeping noise. I followed Ward down the hallway, passing many other agents who I did not know. Looking around the place, I guessed that it was quite old, maybe an old headquarters that had been refurbished. I must have looked like an idiot, looking around in awe.

Entering another room full of sofas, I saw that most of them team were in here. Their heads turned to face me, some of them smiling. Skye walked towards me and put her arm around my shoulders, pulling me towards the others. She could feel me tense up as I hesitated to go over. Skye sent me a reassuring smile and I eased up a little.

"Here, I'm guessing you'll need some of this." A British man said, handing me a bottle of beer."I'm Lance Hunter by the way."

I smiled at him, taking a sip of the beer. I wasn't a big drinker.

"Hunter, try to not scare her off." Another woman huffed.

"Bobby, don't start." Skye warned her. I sensed some tension.

"Bethan," Ward called as he walked into the room,"come with me."

I placed the beer bottle on the coffee table before running after Ward.

"It seems like I saved you from one of their daily arguments." He said as he led me down the halls.

"They do that often?" I asked.

Just as I finished my drink I heard the sound of smashing glass before the shouting continued.

"They used to be married, does that give you any answers?"

"Oh, right."

We arrived at a door which Ward unlocked with his card. The room was basic; holding a single bed, a wardrobe, an ensuite and a set of drawers. Though it wasn't decorated nicely and was just plain (and it definitely didn't have a home feeling to it) I knew that it would keep me safe.

Ward spoke."If the HQ is ever in danger, the place will go into lock down, so as soon as you get here, you'll be safe, OK?"

"Right. That's not scary at all."
