My grandparents were amazing. They were top agents, both with the highest grades in their classes and graduation. It made me proud of them. The number of successful missions were endless, and I wouldn't be able to read about then all in one night. Their family life was surprising to me as they had my mum at quite a young age but were still away working for S.H.I.E.L.D. How they managed to bring up a child was beyond imagination; they could have been killed out in the field!

My mum was then talked about. She went to a normal school but there were many letters attached to her file. They were all requests for her to go and train at S.H.I.E.l.D however my grandparents refused. When it asked them to state why, they simply said because they don't want her life to be ruined. Ruined? What had they meant by that exactly?

Later on in the file was about the second world war. Descriptions of them working with Captain America filled the pages and I couldn't help but smile widely. It was just amazing how much they had done yet they had no recognition for it. Though that was the price for working in a top secret agency.

By the time I had finished, it was the early hours of the morning. Grant was fast asleep, his hand still holding onto mine. It was at this point that I thought about us, what we could be. Did he want to be with me? Was I exciting enough for him? What if Garrett was behind all of this and it was a way of getting me to cooperate. But I just could see Grant doing that, at least not to me.

Garrett had arrived at our room in the morning. I was tired but didn't want to show it. He smiled just as I had when reading the files once he saw them in my hand. Reluctantly handing them over, I sighed at the thought of my past being used for bad.

"Thank you Miss Hills, you've been very helpful." Garrett said not looking at me and only at the files.

"What are you going to do with it?"

"That's none of your concern. I just need it."

We heard shouts coming from outside, Garrett rushed over to the window. He cursed before turning back towards us.

"Get her out of here now!" he ordered.

"Why? What's happening?"

"S.H.I.E.L.D just arrived, and there's a lot of them."

Grant grabbed me, pulling me towards the bathroom. It had a sma window but we would just about make it through. I climbed out first but regretted it when I balanced on the tiny ledge that was stopping me from falling to my death. Grant saw my fear and held onto me, probably knowing that the adrenaline would cause me to do something clumsy with my feet. Shuffling along the ledge, we came to a gutter pole which seemed to be our only escape. However, I spotted some movement below us who revealed themselves as S.H.I.E.L.D agents.

"Don't shoot!" one of them ordered the others."We might hit Miss Hills."

Grant smirked as he knew that his plan was going to work. He wrapped his arms and legs around the gutter pole before easily sliding down. I went next but it didn't go so well. As I slid down, I heard gunshots from underneath me. Soon enough, a pain shot through my lower leg and my hands instantly lost their grip. A gasp left my lips as I fell, my tummy doing flips as I did so.

"BETHAN!" Grant's voice screamed out just over mine.

Closing my eyes, I waited for impact, knowing that trying to land on my feet would result in more injuries. My back collided with the ground quicker than I expected though I was still alive. My body was winded and I was struggling to breathe but my senses were relatively normal. The ground moved from underneath me, showing that I had landed on Grant. He groaned as I was lifted into his arms.

I was very dizzy and my arm was twisted in a sick way. It hung loosely as Grant started running but he soon stopped.

"Put her down, Ward." a female voice said though I recognised it.

"I'm not giving her up."

"We've got this place surrounded, she means nothing to you."

"Just turn away and leave us alone."

"We can't do that."

Suddenly, a gun shot was fired and I was dropped to the ground. My body couldn't take this any longer as it shut down, leaving me vulnerable to whatever was going to happen next.
