After what Garret had told me, I was beyond confused. None of my family had ever mentioned S.H.I.E.L.D. Even if it was top secret, shouldn't there have been something that gave us an insight to my families secret lives? And how come I wasn't an agent? Were my parents agents too!? Was Garret even telling the truth?

As I woke up from yet another restless night, I felt everything crash down in me. I couldn't bear to look at the same walls, the same people, or go through the same routine. But there was no way that I was going to break down, I had to stay strong. If I crumbled now, I wouldn't be able to get out of this mess without becoming one myself.

And now Ward scared me. He was the only one I could look in the eye, the only one I could actually talk to even though we never had heart to heart conversations. But I had to open my mouth and offend him. I had definitely stepped over the line though I wasn't going to apologise; he had caused me to land in this trouble, I wasn't going to become his friend.

Just as I slipped my shoes on, the light in my room switched to red, ear piercing alarms going off. My immediate instinct was to run out of the room but the door was locked. Using the energy I had left in me, I tugged and pushed on the door, kicking and punching it. My limbs were throbbing from the pain now but I persisted and kept on going. I then started shouting, hoping that someone would notice the poor woman trapped in her room.

I almost fell out of the room when the door was swung open. Ward yanked me out, keeping one arm around me at all times as we sprinted down the hall. At first I was just stumbling until my legs finally decided to cooperate. I knew not to ask questions just get, but what with all of the panic around us, I couldn't help but think the worst. As we entered a huge room, there were many agents in there, geared up and looked like they were ready to attack. Garret was in the middle of shouting orders when we walked in.

"Your main priority is Bethan! Get her to safety first." He shouted as I was pushed to the front. The agents formed a barricade all around me before a door was burst open.

Everything happened so quickly, so quickly that I still can't understand what went down. Ward was still next to me, guiding me towards one of the huge cars ahead of us. Gun shots deafened me, my legs aching from the strain I was putting them through. I didn't dare look around me as I would get distracted and end up getting hurt but I had a suspicion that we were being attacked by the same men from the hotel.

One of the agents knocked into me, causing me to fall into the door of the car. Ward was also pushed over, using his body to protect mine. Both of us leapt back onto our feet, help coming from around us. I was practically thrown into the car until I heard a gun shot followed by a loud cry of pain. As Ward jumped in after me, I spotted the blood gushing out of his arm. He didn't seem too fazed by it as he ripped off a piece of his T shirt and wrapped it tightly around the wound. Staring at him in shock, I hadn't realised that we were about to drive off and I was lurched back into Ward. He hissed as he hit his arm against the car door but held onto me as we swerved around a corner. The man driving didn't seem to be concerned as to whether we had seatbelts on or not.

Ward flicked a switch on the dashboard in the backseat, causing a wall to come between us and the agent in front. Both of us were breathing heavily as we clicked in our seatbelts. The windows were tinted black and we were going at such a speed that everything was blurred. None of us spoke, we were still struggling to breathe properly.

"We need to get you to a hospital." I suddenly stated, turning my head towards Ward.

He chuckled."No way. We've got to get out of here."

"But you're bleeding, it could get infected."

"I've dealt with worse. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."

"Stop it, you're in pain, anyone can see that."

"The bullet only grazed me, I'll be fine."

I stared at him for a little longer before admitting defeat. He wasn't going to listen to me.

"You shouldn't worry about me." He said.

"It would be a bit inhumane if I didn't show any concern for you."

"And here I thought we were becoming best friends again."

"Ward, I'm being serious. As soon as we get o wherever we're going, you're going to get it checked out by someone."

"Why are you so worried for me?"

"I'm not."

"Yes you are."

Turning in my seat, I faced away from him, not wanting to delve any deeper into this argument. He was enjoying it, he liked to make me uncomfortable. It was funny for him to tease me and I hated it.
