There's Nothing to Fear Except Phear Himself

Chapter 3 Unexpected road ahead

    "CONNER," Alex yelled as he ripped him out of the car. "YOU'RE NOT GONNA DIE ON ME!" He screamed as he started CPR and checked his pulse.
    He stopped and just stared at Conner, as Jess stood above him crying.
    "Is he...dead?" she asked as she fell to her knees and buried her face into his back.
     "Yes Jess, he's gone," he said with a tear starting to roll down his cheek. "HOW COULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN? I TRUSTED YOU!" he yelled into the sky, meaning to tell it at Iapetus.
    "Who are you yelling at?" She asked looking at him worried.
    "I'LL KILL YOU IF I SEE YOU AGAIN!" he said walking towards the truck that hit Conner. He drug the driver out and threw him on the ground. "This is your fault," he said staring him down.
    What he didn't know is what he was actually doing out of his anger, the man started to scream in pain due to his arms breaking on the inside. "You killed Conner," he said breaking his other arm, "you're gonna pay for it." He snapped the man's neck from the inside and killed him.
    "Did you just-" she stopped because Alex fell to the ground unconscious from the energy it took to sustain the ability that long. He started to dream.
    He dreamt of being brought before a man, or at least seemed to be a man. The man was the same person that appeared in the mist at the school. 
    "What you are going to learn from me is going to be overwhelming but you need to hear it. I am Iapetus, Titan God of lifespan and death. You are Alexander Phear, as are you my son. Your mother never knew but now you do, your friend will be ok and when you awake you will be ok. You have finally discovered your abilities, you also will awake with a strange pencil. This is your weapon and you will know what to do when the time is right. You will awake soon and just remember, I will always be here when you need me and you can call upon my power to aid you in your journeys. Goodbye my son," and with that Alex awoke inside a hospital bed.
    "Thank god you're awake" Jess said as she looked into his eyes hugging him.
    "I should've told you to keep going no matter what happened to me or Conner, but we need to leave," he quietly leaning forward.
    "Oh, I almost forgot. By some work of God Conner is alive, the doctors don't even know how he is alive," she said standing up.
    "That's great news, but we have to leave now." He said standing up and stumbling a little onto the wall.
    "You can barely walk, how do you except to leave?" Jess asked as she caught him.
    "I don't care, go get Conner so we can leave here." he said grabbing his clothes and changing into them so he could leave.
    Jess walked out and got Conner to change and walk to the car with her as Alex reached into his pocket and felt the pencil but left it there. He got into his car and started it, waiting for Jess and Conner. They arrived and got in as Alex started to drive away.
    "Alex, where are we even going?" Conner asked as he lay down in the backseat.
    "We're going to see an old friend of mine in North Georgia, Elliijay to be exact. He can help us with what is coming towards us," he said as he pulled onto the highway.
    The two friends looked at each other as they both wondered the same thing, Alex hadn't ever left their town and didn't talk to anyone so how did he know who this person is?
    As they pondered this, Alex thought to himself that Andrew had better have trained upon his powers for he knew that Andrew was one of his kind as well. He had met Andrew over the summer and he kept talking to him over the Internet but never met in person. Andrew had asked him if he could keep a secret and that's when he told him that he was a Demi-Titan of Hyperion and that he had talked with Hyperion. Alex just nodded his head and acted happy for him, but thought he was a complete nutcase until now.
    He hadn't told Andrew that he'd be coming but it was too late now. He kept driving into the night, as it was already 8 o'clock and getting darker by the second.
    "You both should get some sleep, I'll wake you up in the morning when we have to get up," he said without breaking his concentration on the road.
    "You wake either of us up if you need something, ok?" Jess asked as she lay the seat back and fell asleep quickly. Conner was already asleep in the back seat with his hospital gown as a blanket and his book bag as a pillow. Alex was thankful that neither of them snored.
    He got to Elliijay at around 11 but parked on the outskirts of town. He lay his own seat back a little and went to sleep but awoke at 3 to the sound a motorcycle riding by and couldn't go back to sleep. At 8 he awoke the other two and road into town, for he had not known he just drove into something not even Zeus could've handled alone.
