MELVIN:
We had to get the Alpha out of Clover. Killing her was not an option. Obviously. Kevin had a good plan once we did get it out though, which was progress. Of course, before that I too cooked up an awesome plan. These creatures don't physically exist. Hence, they can't sense the world which means...they need us to see and hear and make sense of the world. The implication of this is, if you haven't already figured it out, that if the host believes he or she is going to die, so does the alien. We just have to pretend that we are going to kill Clover. That should draw the Alpha right out for us to capture. There was a problem however, which was that Clover trusts both Kevin and I. She won't believe that we are going to take her life. We really had to convince her. So, I had the Protectors help me out. While she was unconscious, I told them to make her believe that they'll kill her. I would pretend to escape with her. The Protector's belief that killing was the only way would help erase any doubt about the method. I would then go to my house, take the gun that my mother owns (she was in the army), empty out the bullets and then shoot her with that. Kevin wasn't part of the plan but it was a good thing that he did get involved. He helped convince Clover even better. Plus, he had already made the capture device. Brilliant is what he is. Anyways, things were going according to plan. The Alpha was to certainly come out of Clover. If it was in Clover. The one thing we didn't anticipate, happened. The host was changed again, some time in the escape commotion probably. The host was...me. Kevin was in position with his device but I felt the Alpha ordering the final attack on humanity. Everyone went down with a splitting headache. My eyes were glowing. I went and picked up the device. I threw it down and it broke. All hope was lost. I could see, one by one, Protectors dying. I didn't even know what was happening to my parents. I felt my heart thumping in my chest. Everything started slowing down again. My anger was building up. Everyone was curled up with pain on the ground. The aliens were selfish and violent. They were killing us all, absorbing the energy we produce and using it to transfer themselves into our computers. I could feel the Alpha's thoughts. I thought that it might be able to be feel my thoughts too. It was a hunch but I tried. "Stop!" I screamed in my mind. "We must surviveee" was the reply. "You'll kill us all you idiots!" "We must surviveee" It repeated. It was pointless. These stupid things could not be reasoned with. I felt sweat slowly dripping off my head. My anger grew further. My blood boiled inside me. I could hear Kevin and Clover scream. They weren't going to live for long. Human reign was about to come to an end just because of some selfish aliens. We didn't deserve this! I wanted to scream but I was choked with emotion. I was sweating more. Blood flowed out of my nose. I fell to my knees. I was shaking. Tears started flowing out of my eyes. Suddenly, lightning crackled. I looked up. My jaw dropped. The bright blue sky had been replaced by stormy clouds. Slowly, they began forming a vortex. The swirling vortex descended and I saw its eye. I fell backwards. I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a...
KEVIN:
I fell down with a splitting headache and through my blurring vision, I could make out that everyone else did too. Except...Melvin. His eyes were glowing. Holy Hera! The Alpha was in him. He walked over, bent down, eyes glowing and then broke my capture device. All hope was lost. The final attack was upon us. Why were they trying to kill us? Well, right now, they were sucking up energy from us. They would probably use it to make the final jump into our computers, a plan Z in case we humans failed to release them into space. They were smart. Equally cruel too. They were ready to destroy an entire species. I couldn't help but feel anger. My broken hand was not helping. I somehow focused my vision. Melvin was still okay. He was shaking with emotion, his nose bleeding. He was perspiring profusely. He fell to his knees. Suddenly, clouds came into the clear blue sky out of nowhere. The day became night. Lightning crackled. The clouds slowly formed a vortex. What the hell? The vortex descended. I saw its eye. Holy Hera! Is that a...
CLOVER:
Everything was blurring out. It occured to me that the aliens were absorbing energy from us for a jump into our computers. A last effort since we failed. Through my blurred vision, I could see the clear blue sky. I was about to bid farewell to it all, the earth, the sky, my friends, family, everything. Who knows what awaits next. Suddenly, the beautiful blue colour changed to gray. Lightning crackled. I could vaguely make out a vortex forming and descending onto Melvin. I wanted to warn him because he was caught up in his anger. I couldn't find my voice. As the vortex came closer, I saw its eye. Mother of God! My astrophysics was rusty but it doesn't take a genius to identify the thing at the center. It was a............black hole?....
