"Well then...what's that hum?" And everyone just stared. There was silence for some time. Then all of us ran to the kitchen. There, a blue flash of light blinded us temporarily. When we did see around, everything was back to normal. Then there was another 2 flashes but somewhere at a distance. So we couldn't find it. It might be the traveller who may have come back for something. Judging by the duration of the hum, it takes 2-3 min for the time machine to activate. So the next time we hear the hum we will act quickly. However, the next day was all about despair. After that, the General made an announcement. "We will remain on the time traveller's trail. You will be updated about any news." However he signalled to me to follow him. He took me to a room where all the gadgets were kept. A few scientists were working. He took me to one and said "Fred, let him hear it." He pressed a few buttons on his computer and a voice recorder opened up. Then he played it. "I...I need help. Something weird is happening here. There is a man here. And...and a little boy. They are throwing sweets at my car really hard and are advancing towards me. Their eyes are red and they are staring at me. *BANG* HEEELLLPP! MY WINDSHIELD BROKE! AHHHHHH!" *Beeeep* And it ended. "We were able to trace the place where the first time travel took place. It was a building and this man was on the floor where it occured. We were keeping an eye on all people on that floor and this one made a call to the police. All others went missing." "So, what is that supposed to mean?" I said with a completely weirded out expression. "You reported hearing a hum right? Well, we believe that it was caused due to the radiation we told you about and turns out that whoever hears that hum will suffer anomalies in time. Weird stuff. Really weird stuff. It will slowly become more and more harmful to the person until one anomaly causes him to disappear from this universe. Not die. Simply disappear. The reason is that the radiation displaces a few atoms from your body. Just a few atoms like that in a cell. The atoms move towards the source of radiation and dissappear from this time stream. But then a part of you is in another time period, so you become an anomaly who's partially in one time and partially in another. So other anomalies occur to neutralize you which causes you to turn into nothingness." "So the Protectors who were in that house are going to disappear?" "Yes. In about 3 days. Unfortunately we do not have a solution yet." said General. Then I thought for sometime. There was an uncomfortable silence for sometime. Then, with a brilliant smile on my face, I said "But I do. The reason that the traveller himself does not disappear is that he travels along with his particles. He probably wears a space suit to prevent dead skin particles from escaping. So if we find where or when the time traveller went from the house, we can bring the particles back to this time stream and live happily ever after. Finding won't be too tough because we just have to find particles with a lot of anomalous radiation surrounding them. You can build a device to capture specific particles right?" "We already have one. Helps us to purify substances to atomic levels. But that idea was BRILLIANT!" This was something I heard quite often. "I have a plan too. But we need something that can help us know where he is going if it detects the time machine." "Child's play to make something like that. But what's the plan?." "Well......
