Trey's POV

It's been a couple months since I found out that I had a daughter with Janellys. To this day I can't believe that she hid that from me. Then to top it off she has a hard time letting me spend time with her.

"Dad I'm going to Jay's house," Demetrius grabbed his book bag. "How you getting there?" "Well she said she was going to pick me up." "Good, because I need to talk to her." I grabbed the garbage bag in the kitchen, "take this out." I tied up the bag and handed it to him. Mechie took it outside and put it in the dumpster. When Janellys came to pick up Mechie, I went outside after him. "Wait up!" I yelled before she took off. She shifted the gear back into park and lowered the window. "What happened?" She asked, "can we talk? Like for real?" She took off her seatbelt, got out of the car and walked over to the side of the car I was standing on. "What?" "Listen how you going to just pick up Mechie and take him to your house with out asking me? Then you don't let me see my daughter." She folded her arms, "you barely have time for your damn self, and I'm sorry it's our daughter. Then again says the person who called me after so long to help him with his son. Save it for another one Tremaine." "What you mean save it for another one? I want to fix what we had and get back to trying to build something with each other." "Now you want to fix it? After seven years Tremaine? That's seven good long years and you couldn't think to pick up a phone to try and talk to me then. You knew where I was living and not once did you come over." I cut her off, "I didn't come over because I wasn't going to chase you, and try to get you to stay with me when it seemed as if you didn't want to be no more." "Trey, man really. It seemed to be as if I didn't want to be with you? I was falling for you! I wanted to be with you! Look at this we have a daughter and I have to figure out whether how to fix shit so that I don't look like a bad mother. You think I want my daughter or anybody to be like "Janellys fucked up because she ain't never tell her baby daddy they have a kid together for seven years." I've been through enough. So please save the bullshit." She got in the car, "I'll drop him off later." After all that she rolled up the window and took off. Man I wish things were different. Completely different.

After that day, a lot has changed. "Dad, why do you keep playing games?" I looked at Mechie confused. "What you mean why I keep playing games?" "Janellys. Dad she's nice. I know you love her." He's right, I do love her. I'm just not trying to be the one left again, I don't want to be in love and then she ends up disappearing like Lisa.

Janellys' POV

"Mama, can we get Mechie?" Demie came in the kitchen and sat at the table. "You can call and ask him. My phone is right there," I pointed over to my phone on the counter. She got up from the table and grabbed the phone, and called Trey. "Hi daddy" she said smiling, "hey baby girl, what happened?" "Can Mechie come over? I'm bored." "Did you ask your mom?" "Yeah, she said to ask you." "Ask her if she is going to pick him up or I can drop him off." "Mama, daddy said are you going to pick him up or he bring him?" "Baby girl put your mom on the phone please." Demie hands me the phone, "daddy wants to talk to you." I grab the phone and put down the sponge and turn off the sink. "Yeah, what happened?" I ask him, "I'm going to bring him alright? If that's fine." "That's fine Trey." "Alright, I'll be there soon."

I finished cleaning the dishes and wiped down the counters, finished up in the kitchen by the time Trey came to drop off Mechie. Demie answered the door and they came in. "Where's your mom?" "She's upstairs in her room." "Can you go get her baby girl." Demie came up to my room and knocked on the door. "Mama, daddy and Mechie here." "Give me a minute!"

I went down stairs and Trey was still standing by the door outside. I opened the glass door, "what are you doing out side?" "I just was waiting for you to come down. I felt more comfortable outside." "Okay, well do you want to come back in? Or are you leaving now?" He pulled me towards him and into a kiss. A really soft kiss, I kissed back. I'm not going to lie, but then I pulled back. "Trey." "Janellys, I love you. There's no doubt about it. Just let me make it up to you. Let me show you that I was a fool all these years not to come back for you. Please." "Trey, I don't know." Little did we know the kids were standing right there on the other side of the glass watching. When I turned I realized they were there, "I have to go back inside." He just looked at me and then the door behind me, "go ahead." I could here the aggravation in his voice. I turned around and went inside and closed the door as he walked away going to his car on the street in front of my house. "Mama, you nasty!" "Girl hush!" I said laughing mushing her out of the way by her forehead playfully. She giggled, and Mechie walked away with his head down. "Mechie," I called for him as he walked away, but he just went straight upstairs to the bathroom. I went up after him and knocked on the door, "Mechie? Open up please." I waited and knocked again. Demie got down on the floor and looked under the door, "Mechie! Open up butt head." "Baby girl stop, that's not nice. Demetrius can you please open the door," and when I said that I heard sobs coming from the other side and the lock click. I opened up and he was crying on the floor near the tub, I sat on the floor and pulled him to me. I held his head close to me as I wiped his tears with some tissue. "Tell me what's wrong Mechie." "My dad loves you, but you don't. Why would you push him away?" "Listen, it's not that I don't love your dad, because I kind of still do. It just takes time Mechie. You don't understand, your still young, and if it doesn't work out. It just doesn't work out, you just don't know what your dad did and the reason I left. Believe me I didn't want things to be this way." "Then try again." "It's not that easy Mechie." "Jay, my mama left me. I only have you, Demie and my dad. He only has me and Demie. We all have 3 people there except him." "Listen, I love your dad, okay? We just have to work on what ever it is. Just worry about having fun and being a kid. Don't cry, because you look like a sucka!" I laugh and he smiles. "Just don't worry about it okay? I promise I'll work on it, just to make you happy." "Promise." "I promise. Now let's go, we're going to go out and eat."

After we finish eating out, I take the kids to the movies to watch Finding Dori, because Demie has been bugging me all week about seeing it. When we finish there I take Mechie home then go home.

"Mama, why was Mechie crying?" Demie asked when I was ready to leave her room. "He was just sad about me and your daddy. You won't understand baby girl, now go to sleep." I gave her a kiss on her forehead and left her room, leaving the door cracked just a little. I go take a shower then text Trey.

Texts:
Jay: can we meet up some where tomorrow?
_
I got a message back right before I fell asleep, but I didn't bother to read it because I fell asleep. The next morning I got up and checked my phone. Just as I thought, he answered.

Trey: just let me know when.
Jay: after I drop off Demie, I'll come over.
_

Trey is something else, I swear. When I got to his house nobody was there. Like boy didn't I just tell you that I was coming after I dropped off Demie? He don't listen. I wait there for about an hour. Trey pulls up and I get out the car. "How long you been here?" "For like an hour almost hour and a half, I told you I was coming after I drop off Demie." "I had to take Mechie, he got up late." We go inside and sit in the living room, and start talking.
