Chapter 9 - Men in White

"Doctor James?"

"Yes?"

"I believe the patient is coming to."

"He is!"

I opened my eyes and light instantly pierced them. I tried to cover my eyes but tubes jingled and that made me keep my hands still. I looked around seeing a man in white next to a girl in blue. They both had masks on but were staring at me intently. I tried to speak but suddenly al the pain hit me and I shut my mouth but that didn't help. All the pain was coming to with me.

"Can you speak Damien?"

I can't respond.

"Damien? Hm."

Suddenly words come out of my mouth silently, "Are you an angel?"

The Man laughed and said simply, "Far from it. I am trying to keep you alive! Call in Damien's friends."

Clary came running in and with tears in her eyes looked down at me. "Oh my god... Y-you're alive."

I see her bruise and suddenly flinch as I remember last night. Suddenly I hear beeping and the world seems to fade to black. Even the light couldn't brighten this darkness. The final things I hear are:

"What's happening?"

"He's having a panic attack! Please head back to the waiting room while we help him!"

Doors open and close and the numbness kicks back in as consciousness fades far away.
