“Mel!” My mom yelled from the living area. Ugh “Just a second!” I shouted back. *Sorry, I gotta go. Mom is being a nag.* I told my online friends, Ryder and Violet.
“Melody Ann Marie White get your a** out here this second!”
Oh sh** I’m in trouble now. “Gosh mom I’m coming!” I ran out of my bedroom to see why mom was so angry. I found her sitting in the dining area with Harmony eating breakfast. “What, none for me?” I smirked.
“No. You are the one that just has to talk to those girls every morning. All morning.” My mom said.
I death glared at her. “Those girls are my friends, mom.”
“Just go get ready for school, Melody.” I stomped away. Knowing she hates when I do that. I went to go do my makeup and hair then picked out an outfit for the day. I went over to my laptop. *Hey guys, I gotta go to school.* I told my friends. *V: Kk Same.* *R: I gotta go to. Cya.* Then I logged off. I grabbed my bag and ran out of the apartment and down two flights of stairs. I hate living so high up. But oh well. The bus was driving away.. Thanks for waiting b****** I called my friend Drake. “Hey, Drake? I need a ride.”
“I’m On my way.” I sat on the curb for like fifteen minutes. What a way to ruin my brand new jeans.. Then he finally pulls up in his truck. It’s kind of a clunker but it drives so it’s good enough. I jumped into the passenger side. Then I turned on his Summer’s Life album. Summer’s Life is my favorite band. That is how I met Ryder and Violet. On the Summer’s Life website there are different chat rooms. We met in one of them and just kept talking after that.
“Are you really making me listen to this again?” He groans.
“If you don’t want to listen to it you should take it out.” I say with a grin on my face. I can’t help but smile when listening to this band. My favorite song is, Through It All. I sort of punched his arm. He smiled. Drake is my best guy friend, Even if he is eighteen.
“So, how was your morning munchkin?” He said. Teasing me again. I am only ‘4 “11 so he teases me a lot.
“Hey, no short jokes!” I snapped. “But anyway, it was good enough I guess..” I said pulling the sleeve of my hoodie lower on my wrist. Hoping he didn’t notice. It didn’t work.
“You did it again?” He said. Not looking at me. Face emotionless.
“Yea.. It wasn’t a good night.. or morning.” I said.
“You need to stop. It isn’t healthy.” He has been trying to get me to stop for at least two years.
“I know, I know. I have heard it a thousand times before. Please, just change the subject.”
“Okay.. how are the girls with no faces?” He says. I can tell he hadn't moved moved on from that conversation but I went with it. Not wanting to bring it up.
“They have faces. I just don’t know what they look like.. and they are fine. We all left for school at the same time.”
“You should find out where they live.” He stated.
“I want to, but I just feel awkward asking, you know?”
“I do it all the time. Oh, we’re here.”
I sort of laughed while talking. “You are such a creep. Thanks for the ride!”
“No prob. Oh,” He grabs my arm before getting out. He stares into my eyes with care that I have never seen in him. “Don’t do it again. Okay?” He practically begs.
“Okay.. I won’t.” I say. Not sure if I seemed sincere.. His eyes seemed to drop. He let go of my arm.
“Go. You are already late.” He said closing his eyes and turning away.
