chapter 7

I woke up a couple of hours later still on the couch. I sit up and wince, my head was pounding, it hurt to move. I looked around realizing I was still at Jake's. I pulled my phone out from my pocket and checked the time, 8:52, shit Hannah was going to be at my house at 9 oops. I slowly stood up and walked to the front door, walking outside to my truck and went home. As I pulled up in my driveway I could already see Hannah's car in the driveway, oops late again.

I got out of my truck and Hannah stood up from the porch.

"Bout time you got here," she said with a laugh.

"Sorry I was taking care of something's" I say.

"Its fine lets just go inside"

"Ok" I walk up to the front door and unlock it letting us inside.

"I see you avoided Brittany's beating today"

"What are you talking about she beat my ass don't you see the bruises and cuts on my face"

"I don't see any bruises or cuts"

"What!"

"Look" she point to my mirror and I walk over and look in it.

My eyes widen as I see no bruises or cuts from the beating Brittany gave me my face was even clearer than before maybe that's what Jake meant when he said he would take care of them, he made them disappear.

"Oh damn I don't know what happened Brittany did give me a beating but I don't understand how I don't have the bruises and cuts she gave me" I say looking at her now not the mirror.

"Maybe it was magic"

"Yeah sure cause wizards and witches are soooooo real"

"You never know"

I shrug and go sit on the couch. Hannah joins me as I go to Netflix and we continuously watch movies.

A month later

It's been a month sense Ashton and I met and when I found out Jake was a vampire. I've gone to Jakes house after school everyday like he said and I still struggle with it. I haven't found out anything about this Zayn guy but I hope on finding out who he is, who these other guys are, and who they were talking about.

I haven't gotten a beating from Brittany in the last two weeks, she just disappeared and no one knows where she is. Some people say her family went on a trip and others say she got kidnapped but I try not to worry about it. Her gone just means no more beatings until she gets back, which I hope is never.

A bad part though is Ashton is gone to and no one has any idea where he is. He's been gone for a week and I'm kind of getting worried. He hasn't called, texted, or even DM'd me on twitter. When ever he is out sick he always calls or texts me to tell me but he hasn't and it's got me really worried. I really hope he's ok.


Anyways I'm in my last class of the day and we are watching some kind of tv show on the history channel but I'm not paying attention anyways I was to worried about Ashton.


"We interrupt the normally scheduled programming for this breaking news" (idk what they say I'm just winging it) I hear from the TV looking up seeing fox news. "There have been some strange disappearances around the Wichita Kansas area these past few weeks like the disappearance of Brittany William age 18 from Rose Hill Kansas, she was last seen at a party, her friends claim that after the party she walked home and never saw her the next day or heard from her. The next is an Australian teen-age boy; Ashton Irwin age of 18 from Rose Hill Kansas has recently disappeared with no one having an understanding of why, local authorities believe the two have run away together, Brittany's parents claim " she would not run away with some random boy, she is well behaved and loves her life and here there is no reason for her to run away." Ashton's uncle claims "I do not blame Ashton wanting to run away, he has had a very troubled past, I understand him running away, he has never liked it here he misses home so I wish him good luck"," the reporter looks at her partner.

"In other news, many local animals have died in the past two week, we don't know what the cause is but from our research it seems the animals have been drained of blood, there was also two holes in the animals neck. Could this be a cause from a vampire proving they do exist in the world, there will be more on this story when we get more information thank you for your time and have a great day" her partner said and the tv went back to the history show we were watching before.
My eyes widen, why would Ashton and Brittany run away together it makes no sense.

The bell rings and everyone gets up and I run out the door. I run past Hannah and ignored her, ignoring everyone that passes me and run out the door to my car. I quickly get in starting it and quickly drive home. I run inside slamming my door and go upstairs and jump on my bed and started to cry.

Why would Ashton run away I thought he liked it here? What makes it worse is that he ran away with Brittany. It makes no sense of the reason why. I just don't get it.

I laid there for about an hour thinking then I decided to get up and go to the park. I put cleaned my face off from the running makeup reapplying it and put my shoes back on and walk out the door.

I walked to the park and sat on the swings for about 5 minutes looking down at my hands when I felt a cold quick breeze that was there for just a second. I then looked up to see Jake then realizing I forgot to go to his house.

I looked up at him. His eyes were dark red almost black eyes and his fangs with poking out.

"I warned you that if you ever blow me off I would kill you and now I'm going to drain you dry," he growls.

My eyes widen and teared up and my breathing quickens as so does my heart rate and his eyes grew even darker. I get up quickly and try to run for it but he was right behind me in just a second grabbing me and sinks his teeth in my neck as I scream for help thrashing by body to get free. He sucks fast and I close my eyes.

Suddenly someone lunged toward me but instead of grabbing me they grab Jake throwing him off of me. I fall to the ground weak from loss of blood and I look over seeing blurry figures fighting until one throws the other into a tree causing the body to fall. The other runs over to me and grabs me, giving the other one time to run.

"Shyla are you ok" the person says.

I look up at the person, eyes barely open.

"Come on stay with me Shyla. Keep your eyes open don't give in. Stay awake come on please"

"I'm sorrrrrry" That was the last thing i say before passing out.
