”Please don’t hurt me,” Terresse whimpers as a salon staff asks her to sit down for a foot spa.

Jullianne wears the same fearful expression as her.

“Do we really have to do this?” Jullianne complains. “We won’t even appear onstage.”

“This is for our femininity’s sake.” Katie says. “If not, it could be just so we can bond together.”

Katie thought of arranging this Girls-go-to-the-Salon thing. She said that since most of the girls are going to be at the salon to prepare for the play, everyone in our group should join in to. That way, we’ll have more memories to remember. It made perfect sense especially when Ms. Suzanne announced that she’s going to introduce all the students to important people who are going to attend.

“Don’t get me wrong,” Terresse tells her. “I’d love to bond with you guys but it can be over lunch. I feel like the longer I stay her, the faster I die.”

Jaime laughs. “That’s an exaggeration.”

“I won’t let them kill you.” I assure the two frantic girls.

Seeing as they won’t escape the salon… or us, Terresse and Jullianne groans.

“Sorry I’m late,” Michelle bursts in. “Raven wanted me for a little while longer.”

None of us minded. Michelle and Raven were making the most of their time together.

Michelle joins us and the pampering begins.

As my hair’s being washed, I couldn’t stop myself from spacing out and remembering my lunch date with Vince.

He took me to a small garden somewhere in school. He setup a small table near a bench and placed food there. He claimed that he cooked the pasta himself but he later admitted that it was all his mom’s doing. His surprise did take me by surprise. Let’s just say that I still couldn’t believe our situation.

All throughout our “date”, Vince kept on bugging me. He would startle me by whispering in my ear.

“I have a secret…” he said.

He repeated that phrase for more than a dozen times but he would always change the ending.

The continuation of his sentence could be sweet.

“… I’ve fallen in love with you.”

“… I love seeing you smile.”

“… I think you’re an angel.”

“… I don’t want to let go of you’re hand.”

It can also be nonsense.

“… the grass is green.”

“… I can smell flowers.”

“… an ant bit me.”

“… my mom thinks I’m gorgeous.”

Reminiscing his “I have a secret” antics,  puts a silly grin on my face. Vince has been acting extra cheesy today. And even if it feels odd, I think I can get used to it.

“I know that grin…” Katie snaps me out of my thoughts. “You’re thinking about my cousin, aren’t you?”

“Is it that obvious?” I ask.

“You’ve got a dreamy look like you’ve been transported to Lalaland.” Katie points out.

I sigh. “I’ve got it bad.”
