Chapter Three: Ignatius’s Plan

Later that night, Elias lay down on his bed with a killer headache. He tried his best to keep his mind clear of anything because it was obvious this girl could just slip into his mind any time she pleased. It wasn’t a very settling idea to go to sleep to. Most of the guys in his room were asleep, except for Ignatius. He was holding something small and silver that glinted in the dim moonlight. “Hey,” whispered Elias. “What is that?” Ignatius stood and moved over to sit on Elias’s bed with him. He pressed a small metallic flask into his hands, its contents swished at the force, almost spilling over. The liquid had an unfamiliar odor to it. Ignatius leaned in close to Elias and whispered as softly as he could manage, “They never checked my pockets. I got to keep this.” His shoulders look silently as he laughed to himself. “Here.” Ignatius pushed the flask up to Elias’s mouth and tilted it, spilling its contents onto his tongue and down his throat. Elias almost choked up the foul drink, but he managed to swallow it. After all, he didn’t want Ignatius to think of him as lame or a weakling. Ignatius smiled and hit Elias on the back. He looked around, making sure there was no one else awake in the room before he spoke again, lowering his voice back to a whisper. “Listen up. I’ve got a plan, you see, and I need your help for it to work. You and that girl from earlier, the one with white hair.” “You mean Elisa? What’s this plan? Why do you need us?” Could this be the plan that Aislin was talking about earlier? Elias practically shook with anticipation at what his plan could be about. Coming from this guy, it had to be good. Ignatius smiled, opening his mouth to continue, but he was interrupted by the sound of footsteps outside of the dorm door. Elias quickly flattened himself against his bed and Ignatius slid under the bed just as the door opened and a flashlight scanned the room. Elias lay as still as he possibly could, mimicking the breathing pattern for sleep. Thankfully, the guard with the flashlight turned and closed the door behind him. Elias waited a little while before slowly rising and waiting for Ignatius to come out. Not long after Elias was sitting upright did Ignatius come out from under the bed with a smile on his face. “Okay, so the plan. We’re going to escape, and we’re going to escape tomorrow.” Elias froze. Escape? Was that even possible with all the guards guarding every single possible exit and monitoring each dorm room? “I know it seems impossible, but I’ve worked it out and we’re going to get out, I promise you that.”
