Chapter Four: Aislin
Elias stood in the middle of his dorm at about midnight; all of his roommates were still in bed, and they weren’t moving. Even the usual steady flow of air from the vent above his bed had halted. It was strange, he could still feel the cool air in its usual path, but the air was not moving. It was as if time itself had halted. Elias turned from the vent to face the door and jumped in shock from what he saw. A girl with long, tangled black hair and bright green eyes stood a few feet away from him. Aislin smirked, her arms crossed across her chest. Her previous hospital gown was replaced with form-fitting black leather pants and a long sleeved shirt with fingerless gloves. The combat boots on her feet looked like they could crush a grown man’s skull with minimal effort. Elias felt his heart practically stop. Why was she here, why now? “You got my message I presume?” Her voice was melodic and almost hypnotizing, but with a strange tension of threat in it. Elias swallowed awkwardly, not really understanding what she meant. Aislin rolled her eyes and shoved him up against the wall, her arm across his neck and her face just inches away from his. Elias felt his body trembling with fear. “Do you really think that drunken idiot came up with a plan like that on his own? I planted the idea in his head. He was the only one crazy enough to go through with it, other than you of course, but knowing that white-haired bitch, she’d talk you out of it. Just follow my plan exactly as he described it and everything will work out, you got that?” Elias swallowed again, and nodded. Aislin, chuckled darkly and slapped Elias’s cheek playfully, but it left a red mark on his pale skin. “I look forward to seeing you later tonight.” She smiled, her eyes practically glowing and then she was gone. Just like that. No warning, no trace. Nothing, as if she were just a memory. Elias felt the steady flow of cool air once again and heard the occasional snore from his roommates. Seeing you later tonight? What was that supposed to mean? Elias shook as he walked back to his bed and lay down for the night. Aislin seriously terrified him. It seemed like she really could do anything. This time, she seemed less insane and more threatening. Was her insanity just an act, could she control it, or was that just a part of her insanity? Aislin really was a bunch of unanswered questions.
