A few years ago, Dina noticed a new face in the classroom.

Dina arrived a few minutes early in class. She was looking for a seat, and she saw a new person who was sitting in the back. A seat was empty next to her, and Dina rushed there. The girl hid her face with her hair. When Dina set herself down, she could hear a pen scratching on paper, but for some reason she didn't see her arms moving. She payed no attention to it. She wondered wether she should introduce herself, but it was quickly solved as class started. Dina was forced to spend the next four hours in ignorance.

After the lunch bell rang, Dina began to search for the new girl. She found her standing next to her locker. Dina walked towards her and introduced herself.

"Hello! My name is Dina. You're new here, right?"

The girl looked up. Dina froze in place. Half her face was covered by her long dark hair, and the other half revealed flawless traits. Her tanned skin was a huge contrast with the only bright green eye she could see. The rest of her body revealed some traits that interested Dina. She kept her arms crossed around her binders, and had a very serene demeanor.

"Oh hello! Yes, you're right. My name is Kate." She had the strongest accent in the history of ever.

"Wow, nice accent! Where were you before coming to Mullbark?"

"My parents are from New Zealand. We lived in New York before coming here. My parents got sick of big cities."

"Indeed. Mullbark must look like the middle of nowhere compared to that. Do you want to go get some lunch with  me? We can get to know each other better!"

"Why not! I don't know this place or the people inside it so it would be nice to get an inside look."

And they went off into the courtyard. They got their lunch at one of the many food trucks that were present, and sat down on a table in the middle of the yard. Dina began showing people to Kate.

"Ok. So you see that guy over there? They one with the giant ass headphones, violently head banging to his air guitar?"
"Kinda hard to miss when you put it that way... But I see him."

"That's Alec. He's the class clown, and he's also kind of a dick. But besides that, he's a good friend of mine. Alec's relatively new here." She took a sip of her drink. "He came here a few months ago, but I knew him from before. Long story."

"That's nice. Who else do you know?"

"Hm. Oh! There's her." Dina pointed to a girl with a pretty messy bun, Ray Ban glasses, and a huge book.

"Well, you see, that's Tracy. She looks like a nerd, or some antisocial you don't want to mess with, but she's actually really cool. You would like her."

"That's nice! I guess I'll say hi to them sometime." The bell rang. "Oh crap. Hey, do you know where room 248 might be?"

"Oh you have chemistry? Sweet. I have bio. 248 is right next to where I am. I'll walk you!"

    "Ok, cool!"

And together they set off into the flood of rushing students.

A few months later, a friendship had started to bloom between the two girls.

Dina was reading her favorite book, Wonders of Warlocks, in her room, on a quiet Saturday afternoon. She finished her chapter, then felt a little hungry. She got up from her bed, and went downstairs to get some food out of the fridge. She was about to open the refrigerator door when she got a text. It was from Kate.
