When pain is inflicted upon a person what is the word that will come out of their mouth. Would it be "Ouch!" or something much worse or maybe nothing at all? But would a person still say the same thing when it is another person causing the pain?

Andrew is in the OR, (operating room), working on an eight year old. She had come into the ER, (emergency room), with complaining of headaches and migraines. They did a blood work-up to rule out any infections, or diseases, but there was none. Then they did an MRI to rule out a tumor, but there was no tumor. They gave the girl, who was named Mia some pain killers and sent her home, but the next week, she had come back with blood coming out of her nose. They could not stop the bleeding, so they rushed get to get a CT scan. The CT scan showed that Mia should have been here two years ago. Mia had a massive tumor in her temporary lobe, which could have caused her never see again. When she came in the parents never said she had seizures, or memory loss, or even speech problems. Andrew asked them, but they said no. The CT scan showed that Mia had cancer, but luckily they caught it in time.

Now that is why Andrew is in the OR. He is trying to save this girl, which he had grown to become attach to. She had a great personality. His attending allowed him to have his first solo surgery and she's also his best friend. She trusts and saw how attach he got. She's a neuro surgeon. Andrew was closing up, when he heard the monitors starts beeping.

"Page Dr. Gates." He said, calmly. Trying to get things under control but when nobody moved to do anything he screamed, "Now!" that's when the nurses scattered, following his order.

"Screw it!" Andrew whispered to himself. He took off his latex gloves and started pumping her chest.

1 2 3 pump 1 2 3 pump 1 2 3 pump......

"Come on, live. Please!" mumble Andrew. That is when a door open. Mia wasn't getting any better. She is really dead, but he could not let go. "Somebody give me a scalpel!" yelled Andrew from across the OR.

"Dr. Jones." He heard his name being called, but he could not hear it, considering the fact that he need to open her chest to save her life.

"Dr. Jones!" This time he look up for the first time being in the OR, with tears running down his cheeks.

"I know you want to save her but--" She couldn't finished, because Andrew cut her off.

"But nothing, Dr. Gates." Andrew said, with a stern tone. "She's only eight years old."

"But you have to let her go." She says, with a calming tone. "Andrew, let her go."

When he finally got his hand on a scalpel, he went to go open her chest, but that is when he felt arms wraps around his shoulders. Andrew tried to fight it off, but eventually he let go. That is when he heard the most devastating sound.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

Amanda finally let him go and Andrew put down the scalpel and took off his sterile clothing and went to go scrub out. That is when Amanda walk in, scrubbing out to.

"You know Andrew, I can--" He dried his hands and made a signal to tell her that it's okay. He's fine.

Andrew went to go inform the parents that there eight year little girl is dead and that they will not be spending her birthday with her tomorrow. Tomorrow is also his birthday. "How funny is that? I get to spend my birthday sad and alone." Andrew thought to himself. That little girl really got to him. Andrew felt like he did not have a right to feel like this. He  felt like he just killed that girl. Andrew put on his best smile in went to go inform the parents. When he went up to them there smiles faded.

"Mr. and Mrs. Hunter." Andrew greeted.

"How many times do I have to tell you to call us Marissa and David?" She told him, oddly perky. This made Andrew even more nervous and upset because he really did not to inform this family---which he have grown to become attach to, (like Mia), that their daughter is dead.
