I solemnly walked into the form room and took a seat next to Amy.
"Hey, cheer up," she frowned.
"Sorry," I sighed, taking my phone out of my bag and going on to wattpad.
"What's wrong? Is it about Ollie and Jamie?" Amy said. Too loudly.
"Shhhhhh!" I exclaimed, pulling her into the corridor.
"So I guess things aren't okay between you and Ollie?"
"No. I went to his house this morning, but his mum said he had already left for school. It's my own stupid fault- I shouldn't of lead him on. I was just so confused, and I didn't know what to do. Please help me Amy, I really want them both back. It doesn't even have to be a relationship, I just want them as friends," I sighed.
"Who, Ollie and Jamie?"
"Yes! God, keep up!"
"I'm sorry, it's just...I've got a lot to think about at the moment."
"What, and I haven't?"
"No, but it's Ron's birthday in two weeks and I don't know what to get him!"
"Okay, by the sounds of it we both need help. How about you come round tonight, and we can try and sort out our messed up lives?"
----------------------------------------------
"Okay, firstly...operation Ron. So what kind of things does he like?" I asked, opening my notepad and grabbing a pen from my desk.
"Um...lets see...The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter..."
"So basically the typical fanboy stuff?" I asked, jotting down these things.
"Yep, pretty much."
"Well then why don't we look on the Internet and find him something like a Fanboy tshirt?"
"Yeah but do you really think that's enough? We've been going out for over half a year!"
"Alright, buy him some chocolate too. You can never go wrong with chocolate!"
"Yeah, but I don't know what he likes! Can you ask him for me?"
"Won't that be soooooooo obvious?"
"Not if you ask! Call him now!"
"Fine," I sighed, picking up my phone and calling Ron.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Hi, I'm doing...um...a survey thing for psychology..."
"Go on..."
"So what is your favourite type of chocolate?"
"Are you sure that is a psychology question?"
"Yeah, I'm studying whether whatever your favourite chocolate is reflects off your mood..." I made up.
"I swear you don't even take psychology."
"Oh, it's an extra course my mum signed me up for out of school..."
"Right. Well I guess it would have to be Galaxy maybe..." He answered uncertainly.
"Cool. Thanks. Bye!"
"Bye, I guess?" Ron laughed, hanging up.
"It's Galaxy."
"Yeah, but what kind?? Classic? Cookie crumble? Caramel?"
"Oh for god's sake Amy, does it really matter? Just buy him all three!"
"But he might be allergic to caramel or something!"
"Seriously?"
"Yes! Please just call him one more time! Just to check he does like all three."
"Uhhhhhh, the things I do for you," I groaned, calling Ron again.
"Rosie, is this another psychology question?" Ron laughed.
"Actually...yes. Just to clarify, do you like all of the Galaxy flavours?"
"Yeah, I love them all! Why?"
"Oh, my second survey is to see if the flavours reflect off your...uh...eye colour. Anyway bye," I gabbled, hanging up.
"Yes he likes all three. Sorted now?"
"I need to choose the main present, remember?"
"Oh yeah, okay," I said, turning on my computer and opening up Amazon. After scrolling through the many pages for about half an hour, Amy eventually chose a sweatshirt with all the symbols of his favourite books on it, and ordered it through her mums account.
"Right, now onto my problem. Jamie and Ollie. What do I do?"
"Okay, firstly Ollie. You need to go round there and apologise your ass off. Tell him how selfish and ungrateful you have been."
"Amy, you're meant to be on my side!"
"Yeah, but grovelling might work. Also ask if he wants to go out sometime as friends. But don't tell him you are doing it "as friends" or he might get upset again. Just say something like "do you wanna go to town tomorrow after school?" And that way it isn't clear if you are asking him out as friends or more. See? Simple!"
"Okay, I'll do that. But what about Jamie?"
"Hmm, he's gonna be much harder to get back. Especially as a boyfriend. Maybe you should talk to him after you've talked to Ollie. Say you've sorted things out with Ollie and apologised, and it's all okay. And then...I know! You should make like a collage or scrapbook or something full of photos and memories to give to him, so that he remembers how much fun you guys have had together!"
"Great idea! Right, that might take some time though. I'll talk to Ollie tonight and try and get this collage thing done, and then talk to Jamie tomorrow. Thanks Amy!" I grinned, hugging her. She grinned back, but straight away her mum called to say she wanted her back home. As soon as she left I went next door to talk to Ollie. I held my breath as I knocked on the front door. Ollie answered straight away.
"Oh, hi Rosie," he half heartedly smiled. I guess the rest of his family were out.
"Hi. Can I come in?"
"Sure," he sighed. I stepped into the living room and sat down on the sofa opposite Ollie.
"Would you like a drink?"
"I'm fine thanks. I'd just like to start by saying-"
"I'm sorry," he interrupted.
"What?"
"I'm really sorry about how much I overreacted. I should of known all along that you only wanted to be friends."
"No! It's not your fault! It's mine, and I am so sorry I was so selfish and didn't think about anyone but myself. Could we maybe be friends again?"
"Of course, I've missed you," he said, getting up to hug me.
"I've missed you too," I smiled into the hug.
"Oh and by the way, I think I'm definitely ready to be friends. I've moved on."
"It's Chloe isn't it?" I teased.
"Huh?" He panicked.
"You like Chloe, right? I saw you staring at her all the time today," I smirked.
"Well, maybe...but don't tell her!"
"Don't worry, I won't! But I'm going to help you get with her."
"Really?"
"Of course. That's what friends are for," I grinned. He grinned back, before adding: "And just to make it clear, I totally ship you and Jamie."
"You won't mind me being with him again then?"
"Nope, not at all," he smiled. I hugged him one more time before going home to start on this scrapbook. It was only 5pm, so I went into town to buy some resources. Luckily it was a Monday night, so I didn't have any homework to do. I decided WH Smiths was the best place, so I bought a simple A5 book. It was just plain brown with brown pages inside, but I already knew I would decorate it anyway. I also bought a box of random crafty bits to add to the collages, including some coloured paper to stick inside and write memories, inside jokes and dates on. I then walked back home quickly and spread out the new stuff and my old box full of random coloured pens, pastels, pencils, paints and crayons onto my bedroom floor. I also grabbed my glue stick and printed off all of the pictures of me and Jamie I had, some of them including other people like Ron and Amy, and our dogs too (although I guess they're not really people). I then began to arrange them in the book, before mum interrupted me by saying it was dinner time. I rushed downstairs and shoved my food back, and then sprinted back upstairs to complete it.
"Everything alright, Rosie?" Mum called after me.
"Yep!" I replied, going into my room to continue. At about 11pm I had finally finished it. I guess I would have to wait until tomorrow to see how effective it actually proves to be.
