One year later we moved to Straasbourg, France.
Nikola had been sent there to make repairs to the lighting system of the railway.
While we were living there Nikola made his first prototype alternating current motor, which was exactly as he had sketched it the first day we met.
It seemed two lifetimes ago now.
Nikola could not have been a better husband to me.
Loving, considerate, generous always. That was his nature.
I continually encouraged him to find investors. He needed them. We did not have the funds.
He would come home deflated.
"Another rejection."
I kissed him tenderly.
"Keep trying my darling."
"They simply don't understand it. When they don't understand they reject."
He was determined to continue.
"You know what I must do? Meet Mr Edison directly. He will understand my idea!"
